Capping Off the Year with Thesis Presentations
Congratulations to all our seniors on their excellent thesis presentations! Below is just a sample of the many fascinating topics that students wrote and presented on.
Annaliese A. presents on "Edifying or Simply Entertaining? The Power of Story to Transfer Wisdom to Humanity as Seen Through Dostoyevsky and Kreeft."
Elena B. speaks on her thesis: "What is True Love? The Struggle between Agape and Eros in Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina."
Catalina S-G. discusses "Being the Hero of One's Own Life: An Investigation into the Nature of Heroism in David Copperfield, Anna Karenina, and My Ántonia."
Kateri C.'s thesis was on "The Genius of Comic Books: Telling the Complex Story of WWII and the Holocaust."
Lourdes N. presents on
" 'Straight or Narrow' or 'Gentle and Gradual': Encountering Spiritual Sin in The Screwtape Letters and Inferno."
Hannah L. talks about her thesis: "The Secret to a Happy Life: An Analysis of Virtuous Friendships in My Ántonia and The House of Mirth."
Spring Concert
Congratulations to our orchestra and chorus students, Mrs. Alix Baldwin, and Mrs. Anne Miller for a beautiful spring concert on Wednesday!

Summer Programs Are Filling Up!
Spots are filling up for Oakcrest Summer Programs, so reserve your spot soon! Brush up on your study, flute, art or theater skills, prep for the SAT, or have fun with flag football, soccer, softball or volleyball! Summer programs are open to girls in rising 3rd through 12th grade from all schools, so invite a friend to join you! Details are on our homepage:
Chargers Updates
Congrats, Track and Field Team!
The Varsity Track and Field Team travelled to Richmond to compete in the VISAA State Championship Meet last Friday, May 21. The team finished in 5th place out of 22 scoring teams. Our 4x800 team started the meet off by winning the event! Congratulations to state champions: Hannah L., Maria P-F., Molly Grace M., and Regina B.! All four were named to First Team All State! More highlights:

  • Our team MVP, Vivian K., had an incredible meet. She broke the 3200 school record and placed 2nd with a time of 11:47.92. She also placed 3rd in the 1600 in 5:24. Vivian earned Second Team All State recognition.
  • Catherine E. scored points for our team by placing 7th in the 100m dash (13.44- PR) and the 200m (28.04 - PR).
  • Charlotte O. completed her season by placing 5th in the high jump and leading our 4x400 (also with Teri C., Maria B., and Regina B.) to a 7th place finish.
  • The 4x100 meter relay, with Kateri C., Bianca N., Catherine E., and Sofia C., had an excellent run. Thanks to a heroic fall-to-the-finish by Sofia they brought home silver and all four runners earned Second Team All State recogntion.
  • Lastly, Rima had a successful day and scored 8 huge points for us, coming in second place in the discus throw and earning Second Team All State recognition.
