ALAMEDA COUNTY ― The Oakland-Alameda Access Project (OAAP) will officially kick off in early 2026 and continue through 2029, bringing long-awaited upgrades to: Oakland Chinatown, Jack London District and City of Alameda.
What’s Coming
The project will improve freeway access between I-880, I-980, and the Posey/Webster Tubes, add a new pedestrian and bike pathway in the Webster Tube, and enhance safety at intersections, sidewalks, and bike facilities throughout the project area.
Traffic Impacts Ahead
As construction gets underway, the public can expect delays, detours, and full closures of the Posey/Webster Tubes on select nights and weekends.
Plan ahead, consider public transit, and remember—West Alameda stays OPEN during closures.
