Tennessee is ranked the third best state in the nation for business according to the CNBC's annual Top States for Business rankings. Tennessee is the premier state for business with a low cost of living, no state income tax, cutting edge economy, and thriving workforce. The annual list is based upon 86 metrics covering ten categories of competitiveness. According to the rankings, Tennessee improved its score in seven of the ten categories.

Obion County has recently welcomed many new businesses. Vaughn's BBQ, Pat's Porch, and Millie's Sweet Treats and Eats are recently opened eateries in town! These small businesses among others are making a huge impact on not only Obion County, but the northwest Tennessee region.
Free Training for Small Business Owners through
Retail Strategies
The Obion County Joint Economic Development Corporation is investing in the small business community by providing training and coaching resources to small business owners through a new partnership with Retail Strategies. Made possible by the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development’s (TNECD) TN Placemakers grant, the partnership will fulfill the Placemakers vision of supporting and training small businesses by providing access to education, resources, and tools directly to future and existing small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Development Spotlight:

Mt. Olive Plaza- Union City, TN
The Mt. Olive Plaza is located on 1320 Orchard Street right next to Walmart. Work is still being done to ready the retail spaces.
I-69 Updates:

TDOT anticipates that all three segments will be completed and paved by end of 2023. This will open the entire Union City loop. The remainder of the project, including the exchange in Fulton and the section south of Union City all the way to Dyersburg, are currently in various phases of development.
