President's Corner
Holy Spring, Batman! Pretty sure we aged 3 years in the past few months. Hoping that July plays nice but 2020 has showed us that nothing is guaranteed. Many of you are still trying to find your new normal or even facing hard decisions. Know that we are here for you. That's not just lip service. If we can help, just yell!

You last received a Chamber Chatter in March. Info was coming at us fast and furious and we felt it best that our communications be limited to those of most urgency. Crossing our fingers that we are heading toward a slow down with the crazy and that we may slowly resume a somewhat normal schedule of events and gatherings.

Please find all of the most up to date COVID related information on our website here and in our Tuesday eblasts.

We are excited for our first in-person business after hours on July 9 at the OP Yacht Club but even more excited about our flounder tournament! We are taking it back where it all started, the OP Yacht Club. Their spacious and gorgeous patio is perfect for social distancing and celebrating a beautiful summer afternoon. Make sure you register as an angler by July 31 and join us for the weigh in, Chinese auction and fun at the club afterwards on August 1. We thank our main sponsor i.g. Burton for their support.

Stay well, stay Delmarva Strong, partners and hope to see you in person soon.
Why are there logos and ads in the newsletter?

The first week of each month (if I'm on the ball), over 800 businesses, media outlets, community leaders and residents receive this newsletter. Now that we are in an electronic format, we will be sharing it on social media as well, adding to the number of eyes. Do you want those eyes to see your logo or ad? Call us! 410-641-5306
i.g. Burton is our 13th annual Flounder Tournament Captain Sponsor. Make sure you register to fish and or donate an item or gift card for the auction.

i.g. Burton to Expand

i.g. Burton & Co., Inc. is one of the oldest car dealerships in the United States; and, is one of less than 40 dealerships in the country to receive the Century Award from the NADA for being in the retail transportation business for at least 100 continuous years. It was founded in 1908 by Captain Theodore Burton who owned a general store in Millsboro.

Today, the company is comprised of several dealerships located in Delaware, and their two most recent acquisitions in Berlin, i.g. Burton Berlin Chevrolet, and i.g. Burton Berlin Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat. Charlie Burton is the 5th generation owner. “I am very humbled by our heritage,” Charlie Burton stated. “It’s an amazing story that continues to build. When my great-great grandfather started selling automobiles there were no car dealerships, no service departments, no paved roads, nothing. Today, the technology in the car business is moving so fast that it makes every day exciting. But, I’m sure my ancestors felt the same way when the first car showed up at the store next to a horse and carriage!”

When i.g. Burton expanded to Berlin, they simply wanted to keep doing what has made them successful for so long. They put the customer first, and treat everyone with respect. “The word integrity is on every sticker we put on the back of our vehicles; and, it is a very important part of who we are at i.g. Burton and Company. It’s what has kept us going for well over a hundred years. We mean it when we say, “You can count on us.”

There are plans set for a new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat store to be built in Berlin this year. In addition, there will be a new Chevrolet store built in the near future. “We are very happy to be in Berlin. The Barrett family had a long history in this town with a great reputation; and, we’re simply bringing back that greatness to these dealerships.”

In addition to Berlin, i.g. Burton & Co., Inc. has locations in Milford, Seaford, Lewes, and Smyrna, Delaware featuring Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Promaster, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter, Blue Bird Bus, and pre-owned vehicles. They are online at igburton.com .
For years, our neighboring Chambers have trusted and offered CQI's services to their members. We are proud to announce that your OP Chamber has now partnered with CQI. As an energy co-op, they can offer energy at reduced rates to home and office based businesses.

As we head into the printing of the 2020 Business Directory, we need YOU to help us ensure all your contact information is current and correct. PLEASE logon through the Partner Portal and double check all your information.
In March , when covid hit, the US travel and tourism community took a very big hit. Running a small, local travel agency, it was devastating not only to my business, but other agencies around as well. Despite the challenges we faced, it has shown how strong we, as Travel Advisors, are and why you need us more now, than ever before!

I am a Travel Advisor for Travelista Travels and am located right in Ocean Pines, MD. I have been in business for 3 years now and love it. I’m not just a travel agent confined to her desk, but also a travel advisor that works remotely from various locations doing site visits, touring, and making local connections with the community! I do this for you, my clients, so you can have the best vacation imaginable. I specialize in the Caribbean, Cruises and Destination Weddings/groups, but have and am always willing to plan any trip you envision in your future!

Now, more than ever before, is a time to use a Travel Advisor! With countries having strict access to enter, some boarders being closed, and resorts and cruise ships not opening for months, I am here every step of the way. All you have to do is pack your bags, show up and enjoy your dream vacation!

The travel and tourism industry is coming back stronger than ever, especially in the last month with amazing deals and experiences available for everyone. I cannot wait to see what 2021 brings with travel, and I hope you follow my adventures at; Chasing_Seahorses Travel with Kacie on Facebook or Chasing_Seahorses on Instagram. Please allow me to plan you the trip of your dreams, you won’t be disappointed !

Beach Realm Creations

Beach Realm Creations was created with the intention of showing you a whole new Delmarva world. A world where an octopus can buy eight different flavors of Dumser’s ice-cream at one time, where starfish can dance the night away at Teasers, and where a seagull…well…the seagull is still trying to steal some Thrashers fries for himself. Some things don’t change. But, the unique and quirky sea-life character paintings of Beach Realm Creations will certainly change the way you look at your favorite local spots.
All artwork was inspired by the vision of local businessman Dale Christensen and originally created with oil paint on canvas by Eastern Shore artist Megan Burak. Burak is a contemporary realist artist working mostly in oil. She graduated in the fall of 2015 from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a concentration in two-dimensional art. She has won multiple awards while exhibiting in juried shows and galleries and has shown all around Maryland as well as New York and Washington D.C. Her work is available to view at www.meganburak.com .

Prints and notecards are available online at www.beachrealmcreations.com as well as Patty Jean’s Boutique, The Framing Corner, Teaser’s gift shop, and The Art League of Ocean City gift shop. We offer 8’’x10’’, 11’’x14’’, and 16’’x20’’ digital prints with mats as well as 16’’x20’’ fine art canvas prints, and four-packs of miscellaneous notecards. There is also the option to “embellish” your fine art canvas prints online for a one of a kind work of art. Check out Beach Realm Creations today!

Well, things changed a bit on us. We were saddened that we couldn't enjoy our first St. Patrick's Day Parade and all of our events went askew. But, we are excited for the Flounder Tournament on August 1 and Community Expo on September 12.

We are heartened that during these difficult times, we have created new partnerships with area businesses. We than them for their trust and engagement.

Stay tuned for all of our events as we ramp back up. Stay well!
