President's Corner
Cross your fingers, I think winter may be out of here, but, you know how our weather is. It will be full on August by next week!!

Our Spring Community Expo owes that nicer weather for a great turnout. Over 40 businesses and nonprofits got to have face time with many residents at White Horse Park, making appointments and gaining support. Thank you to all who took part. We typically do another one in the Fall, so stay tuned.

Next up is our General Partnership Luncheon on May 11. Very exciting news about our own IRA plan will be unveiled by Tylor Lennox of Coastal Wealth Management. You don't want to miss this. Please register this week so we may provide an accurate lunch count to the Dunes.

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce has rallied regional chambers for a joint mixer to be a Bordeleau Winery in Eden on June 21. This is a tremendous opportunity to network on a massive scale. You do not want to miss out on this event!

The culmination of our summer efforts lands on our very popular flounder tournament that will be on August 6 this year. Sponsorship levels have been set and are up for grabs. Last year, the winning fish won over $5,000 and the total purse was over $8,000 with almost 300 anglers. Don't forget that we hold an auction that day as well. Please consider donating gift certificates, products, stays, etc toward that effort.

Get out there and soak up some Vitamin D and be well.

Next Meeting
June 1, 2022
8:30am - 9:30am
at the Chamber office

The Ocean Pines YPP started off the Spring right with great representation at our Chamber Expo this past weekend. We sold our Pura Vida bracelets at the expo and had the opportunity to share what our group has to offer to the community. We are co-hosting a May Joint mixer with our fellow young professional chambers, Salisbury and Ocean City, at Nick’s Pro Golf.

The joint mixer is on May 11th from 5:30 to 8 on 45th St. in Ocean City. It is going to be a great time so if you are a Young Professional and want to join us you are more than welcome! It is $5 to play and our Chamber Partner Hawkins Electric has graciously donated pizza and beverages.

The Young Professionals of the Pines (YPP) aims to unite the next generation of professionals. YPP creates opportunities for emerging business leaders to build relationships, expand their leadership skills, and develop their careers while paving the way for the future success of the Ocean Pines community.

The group is designed for professionals between the ages of 21 and 35.
If you can’t make it to our meeting in person, the option to join us via Zoom is also available. Keep an eye on our Facebook page (Ocean Pines Chamber YPP) as well as our LinkedIn Group for more information on upcoming events!

Alert – Significant Utility Rate Increase as of December 2021

The utilities in each service area are required to offer customers an electricity and natural gas supply service and rate if they have not elected to sign a contract with a licensed third-party supplier. Prior to December 2021 the rates offered were reasonable and on average one cent higher than third-party supplier rates. However, as of December 2021 meter read date, the rates have significantly increased by on average 40%. The utility rates when compared to current third-party supplier rates are on average three cents higher.

We recommend you look at your most recent energy invoice to determine if the electricity and/or natural gas rates have been affected by these increases in rates.

The Chamber of Commerce Energy Purchasing Cooperative program provides you with an option to help seek pricing that provides savings when compared to the utility rates and offers you long-term budget stability.

Caring and Knowledgeable SENIOR CARE ADVISORS

Care Patrol helps families find the right care solution for their loved ones at no cost. Whether it be in-home care, assisted living, memory care, or independent living; we can help. As your trusted partner, our Certified Senior Advisors (CSA’s) review the history of each provider, generate a recommended list of care options based on your needs and resources, and facilitate the transition process by:

• Accompanying you on facility tours and helping you ask the right questions
• Working with case managers and social workers in planning for streamlined discharges
• Providing and recommending resources needed for the transition such as Elder Law Attorneys, financial planners, VA Accredited Agents, move specialists, and more
• Being there for you every step of the way.

At CarePatrol, we understand how important a strong sense of community is and want to work with you to help make new resident transitions as smooth as possible and live their most fulfilling life. Thanks to our unique backgrounds, experience, and our superior industry training, our Senior Care Advisors not only find the right care solution for your loved one but also provide your family with peace of mind throughout the process. We consult, educate, and advocate for you.

We are a free community service, as we get paid by our network of providers. We are a placement company, not a referral agency. This means we are so much more than a voice on the phone; we meet with our clients in person and guide them through the process.
