Rusty Anchor Fitness
Seabrook
|
Brian Evans has recently opened his gym, Rusty Anchor Fitness in Seabrook, Wa. |
January. It's time to make your new year resolutions and just in time, Seabrook announces the opening of it's newest merchant, Rusty Anchor Fitness. The state-of-the-art fitness center is located along Seabrook Ave. on the north beach of the Washington Coast.
The gym is owned by Brian Evans, a 14 year veteran trainer for the Tumwater Valley Athletic Club. In addition to having been voted Best of South Sound Personal Trainer in the Olympian, Evans has finished two Coeur d'Alene Ironman triathalons.
During the month of January, Rusty Anchor Fitness will be offering free goal setting workshops each Saturday at noon. Evans will help you develop SMART goals which are specific, measurable, attainable, rewarding and time sensitive. Make plans to achieve goals of weight loss, increase your cardio and help you build muscle.
You may know Evans if you have indulged in any of the Red Velvet Bakery goodies. Red Velvet is owned by his wife Trista, and together they are a great team who help you indulge, yet keep you healthy.
The goal setting workshops happen each Saturday at noon at the gym and on January 16, plan to compete in the Rusty Anchor First 5k. Sign up at 9 a.m. and plan to run at 10 a.m. beach time. Cost for the run with T-shirt is $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
And speaking of resolutions, if giving back and attending trivia is on your list of to-dos, Seabrook opens the Town Hall starting at 6 p.m., January 17, for an evening of trivia brought to you by Mr. Bill's Traveling Trivia. The event will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Cost will be $20 per seat or $100 per table.
Head to Seabrook for fitness and trivia this weekend, January 16-17.
Established in 2004 on the Washington Coast, Seabrook is a quaint, pedestrian-friendly town which currently has almost 300 privately-owned homes and approximately 170 vacation rentals. The town is a public place and open to all. Fire pits, oceanfront promenades, events, and a growing shopping district make Seabrook a great destination for any occasion. Westport Winery Wins Double Gold In San
Francisco
Westport Winery Garden Resort's Petite Sirah, aptly named Swimmer--after Director of Winemaking Dana Roberts--earned a double gold medal at this week's San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition in Cloverdale, California. The 7,162 entries from around the world were evaluated by 70 judges.
Swimmer, crafted by Roberts from grapes grown at Jones Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope AVA, has been a consistent medal winner since its 2014 release. The label, featuring the winemaker as a young competitive swimmer, is one of four in the winery's 35-wine selection that highlights one of the family members.
A portion of the proceeds from Swimmer is donated to the Grays Harbor Children's Advocacy Center. (Each wine in Westport's list benefits a local charity with two hard ciders benefiting Mercy Ships.) Another benefit to the community of Westport's many selections is that each is honored in the resort's public garden with an outdoor sculpture. The art commemorating this label was created by Elma's Frank Ratte.
The winery's lively Gewurztraminer, named Captain Gray, earned a silver medal at this prestigious competition. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Grays Harbor Symphony through the Bishop Center. The sculpture commemorating this wine was created by ceramicist Kimmi Kerns.
Both of these sculptures are located in the 5-acre Beauty From Ashes Garden which was newly opened this past summer bringing the resort's dedicated display garden area up to 15-acres on the 68-acre estate.
Guests can meet Dana personally every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. during the Backstage Winermaker's Tour.
Westport Winery Garden Resort is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport. The winery (including the restaurant, bakery, nursery and gardens) is open daily and offers lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information call 360-648-2224 or visit the website at
