Knights Make it Happen!

lisa karcinski principal.jpg

Hello Mark,

This is the time of the summer when we are fully engaged preparing for the return of all students in less than two weeks. In fact, all of our teachers are returning this coming Tuesday for pre-planning. Over the course of the summer, we have been making campus improvements including a deep cleaning of all buildings as health and safety remain at the top of our list as 2022-2023 daily priorities.

In this third summer break issue you will find some helpful back-to-school reminders. If any apply to you or your student, please note the dates and times as we don't want any of our Knights to miss out on an opportunity. Thank you very much for reading and I hope you will enjoy this final weekend of July!

In Knight Pride,

Dr. Karcinski

Knight Motivational Moment! (Summer edition #3)

It's Not About Money

We picked this true story as our Knight teachers are returning to campus on Tuesday to begin preparing for the return of students on August 10th. We have an incredible group of educators here at OHS and what drives them is not money, rather a love of teaching and the pride of seeing their students succeed.

-------------------

It is important that our Knights remember that wealth and what it brings is at best fleeting. For example, one hundred years ago in 1923, a small group of the world's wealthiest men gathered at the famous Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. At that time, they were a "Who's Who" of wealth and power. They controlled more money than the total amount contained in the United States Treasury. Here's a list of who was there and what eventually happened to them:

Charles Schwab: president of the largest independent steel company — died broke.

Arthur Cutten: greatest of the wheat speculators — died abroad, insolvent.

Richard Witney: president of the New York Stock Exchange — died just after his release from Sing Sing state prison in upstate New York.

Albert Fall: member of a U.S. president's cabinet — was pardoned from prison so that he could die at home.

Jess Livermore: greatest "bear" on Wall Street — took his own life.

Knights Make it Happen!

Have a great weekend!
