Knights Make It Happen!
Ocoee Community Member

There are several important dates coming up beginning tomorrow which we want to make sure all of our community members are aware of:

Wednesday, Feb. 15:

Thursday, Feb. 16:
  • State mandated mental health lesson (schedule below):
Friday, Feb. 17:

Monday, Feb. 20 (Presidents Day):
  • Regular school day (Hurricane Makeup)

Please take a close look at our Knight athletics schedule which are part of these weekly issues. We have six sports programs competing this week including preseason baseball which will be at home both Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Please glance at the teams' schedules all along and try to make it out for a few games! The players and coaches greatly appreciate the community support plus, as I have written in this space before, given inflation Knight athletics represent inexpensive, yet high quality entertainment to stretch your dollars. Go Knights!

Thank you for reading and Happy Valentine's Day!

In Knight Pride,

Dr. Karcinski
Principal

2023 OCPS Annual Stellar Awards
Recognition of our Teacher of the Year and
our Support Person of the Year!
Ocoee's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Rascoe, and our Support Person of the Year, Mr. Huett, celebrated their nominations this past Friday evening at the Annual OCPS Stellar Awards event. They attended the Stellar Awards with members of OCPS leadership, all the district's principals, and the others who had also been nominated at their schools. It was a beautiful evening and ceremony to celebrate these special individuals.

*** Meet Mrs. Roscoe (Biology)! ***
Where were you born?
Wall Township, New Jersey (aka the Jersey Shore).

Where did you attend college and what did you receive your degree in?
Ohio University Home of the Bobcats where I got my degree in Sports Management and Coaching. Then I went to UCF to get my Teaching degree. Finally, I received my Masters in Science Education from Nova Southeastern.

How long have you been teaching?
This year is 24!

Random fact about you?
I am a vegan (and have not eaten meat since the age of 14) and I have a lot of tattoos.

Bucket list:
I want to go surfing in Hawaii and hike up a volcano.

*** Meet Mr. Huett (Support Services)! ***
Where were you born?
I was born in Birmingham, Alabama.

How long have you been in education?
This is my second year in Education and while I am not a teacher, I do interact with students everyday. I provide an ear for them to talk to, sometimes I provide advice, and other times I am there to just cheer them on for their academic achievements!

If you were not in Education, where do you see yourself?
If I could have any job besides education I would be doing something in the film industry or I would be an Immigration Attorney.

What's a random fact about you?
I have an Oscar Statue tattoo. It reminds me to never stop dreaming!

What is your hobby?
I am not sure if this counts, but every year my friends and I watch all the Oscar nominated 'Best Picture' films and then we throw a party on Oscar Sunday where we create a menu based on each of the nominated films.
