Graduation 2022
We are excited to honor the Class of 2022 at graduation ceremonies this Sat., May 21!

North Oconee High School's ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Oconee County High School's ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.

Doors for guests will open one hour prior to the start of each ceremony. The University of Georgia's Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for all visitors.

We are so proud of this year's graduating class and look forward to celebrating them this Saturday!
OCPS and OCMS principals named
Oconee County Schools recently announced the names of two new principals, following unanimous approval of the Board of Education at the May 9 meeting. The following principals will begin serving June 1, 2022:

  • Shelby Hilley, Oconee County Primary School
  • Matt Stephens, Oconee County Middle School

"Ms. Hilley and Mr. Stephens have each served Oconee County Schools for over a decade as teachers and administrators. I look forward to the positive input each of these world-class educators will have in their new roles at Oconee County Primary and Oconee County Middle, respectively,” said Superintendent Jason L. Branch. “Both are committed to building on the successes of their predecessors and leading positive learning environments that result in high achievement and student success.”

North Oconee girls and boys golf teams back-to-back state champs
Congratulations to the North Oconee High School girls and boys golf teams for being back-to-back 4A state champs! Congrats also to Luke Koenig for being the individual state low medalist.
Senior Walk Day
Senior Walk Day is one of the highlights of the school year! Graduating seniors from North Oconee High School and Oconee County High School walked through the hallways of their elementary schools, much to the delight of their former teachers and our current elementary students. We are so proud of the Class of 2022!
Top 6% of High Schools Nationwide
Both North Oconee High School and Oconee County High School have been named in the top 6% of high schools nationwide by U.S. News and World Report. Oconee County was the only system in Northeast Georgia to have any schools rank in the top 6%.
Retiring Educators 2022
Retiring educators were recently recognized at an annual reception held at OCAF, sponsored by Georgia United Credit Union. We appreciate our retirees for their service and know the differences they made will be lasting.

Dove Creek Elementary presents "Willy Wonka Jr."
Dove Creek Elementary’s production of “Willy Wonka Jr.” truly transported us to “a world of pure imagination!” Bravo!
Pursuit of Excellence Award
Colham Ferry Elementary bookkeeper India Caudle was recognized with the May 2022 Pursuit of Excellence award. Job well done!
REACH Scholarship Partners
We are so grateful to our community partners for fully funding our REACH Scholarship Program. With the help of their generous donations, each year, four Oconee County Schools students will receive up to a $10,000 scholarship – $2,500/year for up to four years – to be used at a HOPE-eligible Georgia two or four-year college. We are deeply appreciative of Athens Ford, BankSouth, Oconee State Bank, Peach State Federal Credit Union, and Walton EMC for their strong support!
CFES Literature Day
What a fabulous day celebrating literature at Colham Ferry Elementary School! Students dressed as a variety of fairy tale characters, marched in a parade, engaged in a variety of literary activities, and much more. How magical!
MBES Fifth Grade Graduation
Across the school system, 5th graders have been honored at their Fifth Grade Graduation Ceremonies. This one at Malcom Bridge Elementary included musical performances (like “Lean On Me”), awards, and a year-long planned Big Bash extravaganza. What a great celebration!
Middle School Step Up Day
Oconee County Middle and Malcom Bridge Middle recently held very successful Step Up Days! The Class of 2029 will begin middle school this fall and OCMS and MBMS enjoyed hosting our 5th graders in preparation for them to start in August.
