NEVADA MOONSHOT FLIGHT CREW

The Nevada Moonshot Flight Crew is a group of Nevada youth ranging between the ages of 13 to 17 who are motivated to close the gender gap in STEM in our state. The members have received monthly trainings on public speaking, advocacy, leadership, and more.

The NV Moonshot Flight Crew application for cohort 2 is now open! Nevada girls & gender expansive youth ages 12-16 are encouraged to apply! Youth will participate in public speaking opportunities, STEM experiences, a mentorship experience, and a $500 scholarship to support STEM educational experiences will be provided during the program to those selected!

#GirlsLeadSTEM is a national public awareness campaign to elevate the diverse voices of young women and girls in STEM, especially those who are marginalized.


Throughout the month of October, we encourage you to join us, by posting relevant content (e.g., events, youth stories, etc.) and use the hashtag #GirlsLeadSTEM and share your STEM story with NAN!

NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award

Check out The NCWIT Aspirations Award & encourage your program members to apply! This award honors 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, and non-binary students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans.

Harnessing the Magic of Math

Session 3: Nature's Numbers: Exploring Shapes & Patterns | October 17th, 9AM - 10AM PST

Join us for a virtual training series designed to breathe life into math through games, through meaningful, kid-friendly data analysis, and nature exploration. Our sessions focus on strategies that accommodate multiple grade levels and ability levels, helping you meet each student where they are. Prepare to turn your after-school program into a vibrant and engaging mathematical journey!

Wednesdays Oct 18th and Nov 1st from 3PM - 5PM PST


Questions begin a path toward discovery, imagination, and STEM exploration. How can we help youth expand and clarify their thinking and develop their reasoning through the questions we ask them? ACRES Coaching: Nurturing STEM Identity & Making Career Connections

Mondays Nov 6th and 20th from 12PM - 2PM PST

How do you help youth recognize their role in STEM? How do you help youth learn about STEM careers? Program providers experience several easy-to-implement strategies, including a photo-elicitation activity that can help youth form STEM identities, and then learn how to conduct related activities with youth.

Are you looking for fun ways to help youth build number sense and problem-solving skills? Math can take on new meaning when it is integrated into daily routines in our afterschool programs.
