Researchers at UC San Francisco and UC San Diego have mapped out how hundreds of mutations involved in two types of cancer affect the activity of proteins that are the ultimate actors behind the disease. Led by Nevan Krogan, PhD, and Trey Ideker, PhD, the work points the way to identifying new precision treatments that may avoid the side effects common with much current chemotherapy. [read more]

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has released the 2021 AACR Cancer Progress Report: Discovery Science Driving Clinical Breakthroughs.

The report highlights research-driven advances from the past year as well as breakthroughs since the signing of the National Cancer Act 50 years ago.

Hope Rugo, MD, FASCO is the new medical director overseeing both Cancer Center Infusion and the Cancer Acute Care Center (CACC) as of October 1st. 

Rushika Perera, PhD received the Günter Blobel Early Career Award from the American Society for Cell Biology.



Maya Vijayaraghavan, MD, MAS received the 2021 Women in Medicine Resilience Award at the recent Women in Medicine Summit.

Ana Velázquez Mañana, MD received the Rising Star Award at the 2021 LEAD Conference presented by Women Leaders in Oncology.
