Banned Books Week
October 5th-11th
Established in 1982, Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community in shared support of the freedom to read.
The American Library Association and Banned Books Week Coalition are pleased to announce the theme for Banned Books Week 2025: “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights.”
With the escalation in attempts to ban books in libraries, schools, and bookstores around the country, George Orwell’s cautionary tale 1984 serves a prescient warning about the dangers of censorship. This year’s theme reminds us that the right to read belongs to all of us, that censorship has no place in contemporary society, and that we must defend our rights.

Donate Your Native Seeds
Help us make native seeds free for all. Sharing native seeds is easy!
- Pick up a seed collection kit at the Info Desk.
- Collect your seeds. After bloom, look for seed heads that have matured - usually when the stem has dried. Snip off mature seed heads and put them in the paper bag provided in your kit.
- Fill out the donation form. Be sure to fill the form out completely. Your personal information will not be shared.
- Drop off your bag and completed form at the Info Desk.
We will clean and package the seeds for sharing with others on your behalf.
Stay tuned: New seeds will be available to “borrow” in November!

Please click below and fill out a quick survey to let us know how you’d like to help out and what benefits you’d like to receive. (Filling out the survey does not mean you are obligated to participate; we are merely curious about patron interest.)
