John Gibbon

November 27, 1943- October 1, 2025

With heavy hearts, we'd like to inform you about the passing of John Gibbon, a longtime member of the Pymatuning Century Club.
John loved getting out on his Cape Dory and even last year was looking forward to the summer and getting back on the water. Besides sailing, John also loved woodworking and playing his beloved cello and would often talk about playing when we shared a sail on his boat. John has been battling multiple health issues over the past several years. You can read full obituary, send a note or flowers to the family here.

Our deepest condolences to Pam and John's son's and their families.

FALL WORK PARTY

Sunday, October 26, 2025

9 AM

It's that time of the year! Our Fall Work Party is quickly approaching. As most of you already know, this is all hands on deck event! All of the tasks required to winterize the club will go much quicker and easier with more helping hands.

The party goes on rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather. Bring any tools you may think may be useful to help with yard work. The clubhouse docks will need to be pulled and stored for the winter. Porch awning and furniture will need to be put away for the winter. There's always plenty of lighter work or indoors tasks that also need to be done so there's opportunity to help for everyone.

Lastly, the club will provide continental breakfast and light lunch, but soups and dessert contributions are always most welcome and appreciated. Bring on the chicken noodle and variety of chili crock pots!

We hope to see you ALL there.

Any questions, pls email Dale.

2025 SUMMER PARTY

honoring Jimmy Buffett

Pymatuning Century Club took full advantage of a beautiful late summer day to celebrate the life and times of our favorite lifestyle guru, Jimmy Buffett. Our day started off early with the inaugural running of the (hopefully) annual PCC Pymatuning Coconut Cup Race, the brainchild of our own Ron G. After a morning skippers’ meeting which included Mimosas the fleet competed for the right to take home the coveted trophy or at least some coconut candy.

We then transitioned into an afternoon of Margaritas and Buffett music with a wonderful array of appetizers provided by our members. Cheeseburgers in Paradise followed with all the necessary fixings. We like ours with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French Fried potatoes…all washed down with that cold draft beer.

The highlight of the day was Salmon Frank, who brought us all to our dancing feet with their good time party music. Thanks so much guys. You were a huge hit with the members.

I want to thank everyone who pitched in to make this day a success, especially Michelle Johnson, Sue Porter and Beth Chatham. Thanks also to everyone who came out to party and make this a very special day. ~ Pam

PCC Winter Storage

If you've paid to keep your boat at PCC over the winter, please be sure your boat is centered in your assigned spot. For those storing boats in the car parking area, remember, any wood planks, blocks, cribbing, etc. used to store the boat MUST BE REMOVED in the spring the day your boat is launched. These items are not easy to spot in the spring when the grass is high, can damage the mower, and pose a safety risk for anyone nearby when the area is being mowed. You will be responsible for covering the cost to repair the mower if damaged from something you've left behind!

For those storing boats on the street side of the school shed, please contact Ron Gallagher prior to parking your boat. This area needs to remain open until all trailers have been removed from the tree line in that area.

Thank you!

Hawaiian Salsa

by Sue Donnelly

Per popular demand, here's Sue's fabulous Hawaiian Salsa recipe:

 1 cup finely diced Mango

1 cup finely diced fresh Pineapple

1/2 cup finely diced Sweet Red Pepper

1 to 2 plum Tomatoes finely diced

1/4 cup finely diced Red Onion

 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice

 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

 1 clove of Garlic

3 Tablespoons Cilantro - Optional I did not put this in the salsa for the party

1 Jalapeno finely diced - Optional I did not put this in the salsa for the party

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

Serve over grilled chicken or with Tortilla Chips

I also put in the leftover pineapple juice to the mixture.

Best if served immediately but can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Caught doing good deeds

If you see these folks, please say thanks for the good deeds:

  • Bill Boros completed the replacement of the garage security light.
  • Brenda Henry painted windowsills and doors
  • Ron Gallagher trimmed the bushes along the walkway to the docks

Thank you all for your contributions to the upkeep of the club!

Monthly Hors d'Oeuvre Parties!

Our monthly Hors d 'Oeuvre parties are some of our favorite events! No RSVP's required and no cost - just show up and bring a dish to share. BYOB or donate to the club fridge! During the winter months (Nov. - Apr.), parties start at 5pm on the first Saturday of every month. During May - October, plan on eating around 6pm to allow more time on the water! This is a great opportunity to invite friends or family and show them what we are all about or meet some of our new members. See you all then!

Next event: Saturday, November 1st, @5PM.

Input to our monthly newsletter is encouraged and greatly appreciated! Please email articles and photos to Lidia at szarak2000@yahoo.com or text photos to 724-967-1910 by the 25th of each month.
