Sunday on Cultural Connection on the Air - Mark Wygonik and Josh McMiller for the Cultural Council of Indian River County's Art in Public Places/Art for Art's Sake.
Listen to Cultural Connection on the Air at a new time and place, Sundays at 8 a.m. on WQOL, 103.7 fm and on iHeartRadio.com.

If you miss the show Sunday, you can listen to a replay for one week at willimiller.com.
As Arts Blast closes in on its second anniversary (how did that happen??), I want to let you know how much I appreciate your support. I'll be honest here. When the reality of what was happening to the arts community became impossible to ignore, I thought Arts Blast would have to end its run, but the number of subscribers continues to grow and Facebook followers of Willi Miller's Arts Blast and Willi Miller's Arts Blast Extras are Liking and Sharing. Keep up the good work and spread the word!

And how do I thank my returning sponsors? Without them, there would be no Arts Blast, so ... 😍 😘 🥰

And that brings me back to that old nagging reminder. I'm receiving emails with Calls for Artists and On the Calendar entries every day. I want to include all of them — basic posts are free — but have to take a hard stand this season. If you have an event you want added, it must come to me in the format included here. Keep me on your mailing list for that beautiful graphic eBlast but I will no longer be working my way through it to pull out the information you hope to see in Arts Blast.

That graphic flyer can be used for a paid ad, however, and if you are a member of a recognized art or cultural council, there's a special deal for you. Email for information.

All Florida Juried Show
The 30th Annual All Florida Juried Arts Show opens Oct. 13 at the Court House Cultural Center in Stuart. The show, with Lisa Rockford as juror, features all Florida artists working in all media. Rockford will present a Juror's Talk at 3 p.m. Oct. 17, and the awards announcement will be made on Facebook at 5 p.m. the same day. Preregistration is required for the Juror's Talk.

Rockford's lecture will focus on the a recent trend in Contemporary art-the symbolic use of “camouflage.” As Camouflage has been used for self-protection by manipulating and disguising materials, patterns, and coloration for concealment, these artists have similarly created complex compositions with contradictory combinations and plays of figure and ground. Figures or text may at first be overlooked amongst visually overwhelming environments yet assert their survival amongst adverse environments or oppressive influences. Through photography, fiber art, collage, and assemblage, their unique voices personify those who have been marginalized, or have faced being “othered,” whether by race, gender, or societal non-conformity.
Exhibited works span the mediums of watercolor, ceramics, acrylic, oil, photography, clay, encaustic, wood, metal, glass, and serigraph from 54 artists from Tallahassee to Miami.
