Systems That Work
The solar system has one star, eight planets, five officially named dwarf planets, hundreds of moons, thousands of comets, and more than a million asteroids. In a similar vein, no one organ of the body acts alone, regulation of body health cannot occur without the cooperation of the integumentary, lymphatic, respiratory, endocrine, nervous, immune, respiratory, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular system. Plants, Animals, Minerals, Water and the Seasons are systems coordinated within each other and upon each other as the essential process of evolution for life on Earth.
I hadn’t given ‘Systems’ much thought. I took it for granted and assumed that things worked out on their own randomly. Until twenty-seven years ago, after being in the beauty industry for twenty-nine years and was ready to quit my profession. I had become highly sensitive to most hair products and my hands were hurting, swollen and bleeding. Fortunately for me, through a conversation with my beauty supply consultant, I was introduced to Eufora.
Eufora International was founded in 1997 by husband-and-wife Don and Beth Bewley. The company's core philosophy is "Beauty without compromise" and is reflected in all aspects of their business.
I met Don Bewley in 1997 as he toured Arizona, meeting salon owners, introducing their new, professional line of organic-based hair products. Everyone who met Don fell in love with his enthusiasm for the product, knowledge of the industry, (he was a hairstylist for over thirty years) and admired his dynamic personality. Don was a bigger than life talented hairstylist, educator, trainer. business owner and memorable man. Along with his talented and beautiful marketing genius wife, Beth, they built an amazing company founded on ‘Systems’ that work.
Eufora is based in Carlsbad, California and the products are manufactured in America. In the twenty-seven years of Pluma being a Eufora Salon, we have witnessed the company grow internationally, ingredients transform and advance, create an organic-plant-base color line, re-invent perms and continually educate stylist through their highly skilled support teams. Their technical training in haircutting, coloring, blonding, perming, styling and even blow drying are ‘Systems” created by Eufora for consistent best results.
Don and Beth Bewley had an idea to make the beauty industry healthier without compromising results when delivering organic botanical-based products through a systematic foundation of quality ingredients, teachable techniques, and a company built on family-friendly relationships. Don passed away several years ago, and Beth, a savvy, warm and generous CEO continues to embody the core philosophy of the company. Eufora made its way through the United States, Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom, and the ‘Systems’ are still in place; taking care of the clients who take care of their clients.
Similarly, in his book, The Miracle Morning, Hal Elrod writes that getting everything you want out of life isn’t about doing more. It’s about becoming more. Hal envisioned, wrote and created a six-step ‘System’ for a miracle morning that organizes us for a lifetime of exceptional living. The book has helped millions become the person they need to be to create the life they’ve always wanted. His “System’ begins in the morning, setting the stage for everyday to be a miracle. I recommend the Miracle Morning movie as well.
Likewise, The Apple TV Series, The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy (Canadian comedian and actor), reluctantly travels on an adventurous world tour convincing himself that he is enjoying traveling. Because I am a reluctant traveler as well, I couldn’t help but notice the ‘Systems’ set-in place for him for this travel adventure. From airline arrangements, ground transportation, personal tours and local experiences, to the exceptional hotels and resorts where he humorously enjoyed each country and the people he met, including the production of the series, all ‘Systems’ had to work. I think I could travel that way as well. Knowing flexibility while traveling is necessary and part of the overall systems that ultimately must work.
Everywhere I look now I see ‘Systems” in place or not! Perhaps, as this year unwinds into its final stretch of 2024, we can consider assessing our own systems to make sure they are working for us.
With love,
Hilda
