October 1, 2019: Year 10; Edition 18
Happy October Everyone,

It's hard to believe the 10th Anniversary NOVA Open is a month behind us, but easy for us with the con since we're already hard at work turning it up one louder for the 11th Annual!

We really appreciate the feedback attendees provided in the survey. There are a number of things we're looking into and will be leveraging your feedback when it comes to improvement, sustainment, and new additions. This is especially important, since nearly 90% of you told us you're definitely or possibly coming back next year!

Numerous volunteer events will present themselves in the near future and throughout the year. Stay tuned to the newsletter and on social media. Whether you're interested in making new friends while helping out locally, or getting involved with terrain builds and preparations in 2020, or volunteering at the convention itself, NOVA Open welcomes you. Let us know how you'd like to become involved.

To all the amazing people who have helped bring NOVA Open this far? WELCOME BACK!

Very Best,
Mike Brandt, NOVA Open CEO

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Join us October 19th and/or the 26th for the ANNUAL INVENTORY & REORG of our storage units. We need many hands for this to be a huge success. When we put in the time on the front end, everything is easier ahead of 2020.

At least two dozen volunteers needed: We will split into teams and finish the fun and critical task of sorting terrain in one day on 10/19.

Return on 10/26 to begin repairs before the cold weather sets in.

Check your calendar - we hope you can be there for both events!

The grill will be rolled out for BBQ on 10/19.

Remember to RSVP when you receive your Evite . . . that is how we plan for great food and beverage!

  • Leads/Reps: Expected to review terrain during inventory

  • Terrain: Empty terrain, sort "good" from "needs repair or replace"

  • Terrain: Sort by type - inventory/pack

  • NOCF: Help with inventory

  • Electronics: Tested, inventoried, and packed

  • Seminar/Hobby Haven: Inventory and restock orders

  • Capital Palette: Count and Store

  • Other Areas: As needed
Email: volunteers@novaopen.com if you wish to be added to the volunteer evite distro list.

Watch your inbox for the Evite invitation which usually lands the Monday before Saturday Lorton event days. If you don't receive your Evite, check your spam folder and then write customer service - we want you on the team!

NOCF NEWS
The  NOVA Open Charitable Foundation  (NOCF) had another incredible year representing one of the greatest untapped resources around - The Worldwide Tabletop Wargamer. The NOCF is proud to represent all of YOU, the Compassionate Force, in fundraising efforts on behalf of Doctors Without Borders,  Breast Cancer Research Foundation Fisher House Foundation , and more. Thank you for the incredibly generous force you truly are.

On Sunday, September 1, 2019 33 people became winners in the NOCF 2019 Online Raffles. In the aftermath, NOCF began shipping models and armies around the world once more - this year to Hungary, France, New Zealand, Canada, and 17 different US states!

NOCF will donate $96,000 in 2019 raised by these 33 raffles, the Silent Auction and the Foundation Lounge. These contributions can only happen after expenses, and we have NOVA Open to thank for donating the majority of those. In 2019, vendor space, stock, inventory, and straight out product purchases by NOVA Open reached into tens of thousands of dollars.

Join the NOCF in thanking Mike Brandt, the NOVA Open Executive Board, staff, volunteers, Susan Perkins and the rest of the Foundation Lounge Family! Their contributions of time and financial support allow funds raised to go directly to designated charities:

This year, Foundation was blessed when five members of the NOCF Artist Consortium stepped up to help coordinate the dozens of incredible miniature artists who were involved in donating the 33 online raffles. Please join us in thanking Sean Fulton, Ryan Bridges, James Craig, Caleb Dillon and Alex Good.

This year's successful fundraisers bring the total amount of donations by "The Compassionate Force" - since NOCF began in 2013 - at $305,106 . . . AMAZING!

Congratulating our raffle winners is great fun . . . receiving and sharing pictures of prizes with their new families is outright awesome! We hope some of the winners will send pictures with or of their prizes to newsletter@novaopen.com .
