Blessing Of The Animals Service

Saturday, October 2nd
5:00 PM
We will gather, rain or shine, to bless the animals. Come and meet Pastor Wen's dog, Lance, and maybe her cat Dox! Weather permitting, we will be outside with folding chairs; otherwise we will have non-animal humans in the sanctuary (facing the back glass doors) and humans with animals on tarps in the Narthex and hallway. This way, folks with allergies will be protected but animals will be joyfully welcomed! If you don't have a pet, bring a stuffed animal that brings you joy. God's blessings abound for and through all!

SAVE THE DATE!
Saturday, October 23rd
5:00PM

Mark your calendars for Pastor Wendolyn's Installation Service. Bishop Tracie Bartholomew will be presiding, and Pastor Matt Cimorelli will preach the sermon. More details will be forthcoming as time approaches.

Book Club
Tuesday, October 19th
1:00 PM

The Book Club will meet again on Tuesday, October 19th and discuss “Mrs. Everything”, by Jennifer Weiner. This is a beautifully written multi-generational novel. Jo and Bethie are sisters growing up in 1950s Detroit. Jo is the tomboy rebel, while Bethie is a feminine good girl. As the novel traces these girls’ lives through the Vietnam War, Woodstock, women’s lib, and more, Jo and Bethie survive tragedy and traumas. Neither woman grew up into the person they expected to be. But is it too late for them to find their place in the world?

Grace Place News
From The Director, Deborah DeMarco
At the Grace Place, we are celebrating a new month with more learning fun! The first two weeks, we will focus on the letters O and F, the color orange, the number 5, and the shape of the month (circle). Our themes are: Owls, Fire Prevention Week, and Feelings.
For science, the children will mix red and yellow paint to form the color orange, and they will learn what the word nocturnal means. For math, the children will begin making patterns and finish with graphing.
Our social studies lesson will include learning about firefighters and practicing "Stop, Drop, Cover and Roll." Our featured story is the book "Firefighter Ted." The classes will continue with name writing and recognition, making their ABC journals, and we will start a fun lesson called Write the Room. We will also begin focusing on two sight words (on, an). All of the classes will make craft projects, sing songs, dance to music, and attend Chapel with Pastor Wen. Our Friday enrichment for the first two weeks of October is: STEM and Fire Safety Day.
*********
The Grace Place Trunk Or Treat is scheduled for Friday, October 29th. We welcome the Lord of Life families to join us for this fun event. Cars will be spaced in the parking lot, so please RSVP to Deborah Demarco by Friday, October 22nd if you would like to attend. We will begin our event at 9:30. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lord of Life is organizing a team and fundraising for the Ocean City Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 10, 2021. The American Cancer Society started Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks to unite communities in the fight against this disease.
Making Strides is more than a walk, it's a movement! Today, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer events in the nation. Due to precautions being taken regarding Covid, the Ocean City event this year will kick off with a rolling walk start from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM along the boardwalk.
If you would like to join the team or make an online donation of any amount as a general gift to honor or in memory of someone special, click on the link below. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!

Fall Cleanup Day Scheduled!
Volunteers Needed!
A Message From Keith Lerner,
Grounds And Cleanup Coordinator

Our Lord of Life Church Grounds Fall Cleanup Day will be held on, Saturday, October 16th, beginning at 8:30 AM. I am asking for all volunteers to meet me in the church parking lot by 8:30 AM on the scheduled date. Plan on approximately 4 hours of work, but any amount of time you can devote will be greatly appreciated. Late arrivals are welcome!
Tasks:
We need help with weeding, raking leaves, trimming of shrubs and tree branches, etc.
Viral Vigilance:
Due to Covid-19, we are asking everyone to wear masks and observe social distancing unless you are working with family members.
Please Bring:
It is recommended that you bring your own work gloves, hand sanitizer, water and snacks. The church will provide tools, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Plan To Help? Let Keith Know:
If you plan to help with our cleanup, please contact Keith Lerner via email jklerner@comcast.net or call 609-922-8975 (cell) to let me know if you will be helping.

We appreciate any time you can spare to volunteer for this project!
HELP WANTED!
The LOL Music Ministry Team is searching for people to participate with the Praise Team. There is a need of singers and people who play instruments. Our goal is to meet once a month (date and time to be determined) to review music for the month and increase participation. Most importantly, it is not a "lifetime" commitment--you can join us whenever you can. All ages are needed--no experience necessary--just a desire to proclaim the Good News! If interested in finding out more, please speak with Rick Krause or Pastor Wendolyn.

Teller Needed
One of our Teller Teams is in need of another member. Tellers perform the important task of recording weekend service offerings following the end of our 10:00 AM worship service. Training will be available to new members. Volunteers are always welcome. The more teams we have, the fewer Sundays a team will be assigned.
If you are interested in being a Teller, please contact Financial Secretary, Carol Ebersberger. A link to her email is below.
Ella Doel Funeral

From The Editors:

LifeLines Ending Song:
Our ending song began as a Shaker tune, "Simple Gifts", composed in 1848, generally attributed to Elder Joseph Brackett. In 1963 English songwriter, Sydney Carter, wrote lyrics to the music. He stated, "I did not think the churches would like it at all. I thought many people would find it pretty far flown, probably heretical and anyway dubiously Christian. But in fact people did sing it and, unknown to me, it touched a chord." ...And we still enjoy it today!

"Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre."
Psalm 149:3 NRSV
