OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI
Dear SRS Parents,

It was so great to see all of our new, returning, and alumni families this past Sunday at our annual walkathon. Over $31,000 was raised thanks to the hard work and generosity of our families. Congratulations to our top three student fundraisers-Grace Evanich , Jack Conklin and Connor Evanich . Our top classes were: Ms Delvecchio, Ms. Salsbury, Mrs. Fortuna and Mrs. Landino.

Tomorrow St. Rita School will be closed for our students but open for teachers from the area Catholic schools. We will be hosting the Teaching and Learning Conference featuring  nationally known author and educational practitioner, Monica Burns. Monica will present classroom strategies for meaningful technology integration.
Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 P.M. we will be hosting our annual Catholic High School Fair. Eight area Catholic high schools will be showcased. All middle school students and parents are welcome to attend.

Please join us this Friday, October 4 to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis (Patron Saint of the environment and animals) at an outdoor Mass and blessing of our new outdoor classroom space. Mass begins at 8:45 A.M. behind the school building. Please bring your own lawn chair.

Congratulations to Madison Rosetti who will be honored by the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS) at their Annual Columbus Day Breakfast on Friday, October 11. Maddie was chosen by her teachers to represent St. Rita School at this event.

We are midway through the first trimester and Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for next Friday (10/11) and the following Tuesday (10/15). Both days will be early dismissal days.  If you have not yet scheduled your parent-teacher conference please contact your child’s teacher. Report cards for the 1 st trimester will be sent home on November 26.
Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Enjoy the rest of the week.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

DONATE YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!
(Donations can be dropped off at SRS)

Sacred Heart Academy is hosting a Halloween Party for the children at New Reach in New Haven. New Reach is a shelter for homeless mothers and children and works on placing them into homes. Currently, there are 40 children and 20 mothers living there. They are in dire need of Halloween costumes for the kids because they do not have access to any and would love to give the kids residing there a normal, fun Halloween. We would be grateful if St. Rita's could collect new or lightly used costumes for our cause. We would need to collect the costumes before the party on October 19th,   so preferably by October 17th or 18th. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Lauren Jerram at  ljerram@sacredhearthamden.org . Thank you so much for your consideration, the kids at New Reach thank you!

Does Your Company Offer Volunteer Grants?
Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  jbruno.stritaschool@gmail.com .
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school

Over the summer, participating brands began to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app , available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.

Visit amazonsmile.com , and anytime you purchase an eligible item, Amazon will donate a portion of the profit to our school! Select “Divine Mercy Parish
Corporation” as your charity, and St. Rita School will benefit every time you
shop.
