Story Four!
The fourth story telling event at the Maine Conference Annual Meeting
IT HAPPENED WITH ME AND SOMEONE ELSE!
Remember that time that you and your buddy got caught trespassing? Remember the time you fell in love on the Ferris Wheel? Or that time when you were in the church choir with your brother, and you got laughing during silent prayer and couldn't stop? Then come and tell us a story.
Yes, we are going to have the Fourth Not-annual
Storytelling Event at this year's conference meeting. We are looking for storyteller who can share with us TRUE, INTERESTING and relatively SHORT stories. Now that's a pretty wide open subject. Almost everything that has happened to you has involved someone else. If your story involves church life, even better, but it need not.
If you'd like to share a story, send me a brief synopsis. Email me at
We can use about 10-12 story tellers. And YES! there is a prize for the best story!

The Maine UCC Board of Directors is accepting nominations for members of the Pilgrim Lodge Leadership Team (PLLT.) The PLLT will be the leadership team that will develop the mission and create policy for Pilgrim Lodge with oversight by the Conference Board of Directors. PLLT will work in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the Conference Minister who supervises the PL Director.

In addition to the policy-making duties of the PLLT, there will be several sub-committees that will address Pilgrim Lodge's need for expertise in specific areas. Sub-committees will focus on Fundraising, Facilities, "Open and Affirming," Finances, and Program (which is now named the Outdoor Ministry Team and will continue in its work). The sub-committees are not nominated positions and offer people committed to Pilgrim Lodge the opportunity to serve in capacities where their greatest gifts lie.

People interested in offering a nomination for the PLLT (and you may nominate yourself) should email Steve Hastings at  shastings@fairpoint.net , Sue Burgess at  pastorsue@myfairpoint.net , Melinda Trotti, Interim Director at Pilgrim Lodge at  director@pilgrimlodge.org , Kathy Woodside at woodsidekat@gmail.com , or Susan Reisert at  smreiser@colby.edu .

A collaboration between
the Maine Conference UCC
and The BTS Center

At Convocation 2018 (Growing by Half: Part-time Pastor, Full-time Church), we explored how churches with part-time clergy are thriving when pastors & laity rethink roles and reimagine possibilities. But those shifts have ripple effects for the rest of the church ecosystem when they're put into practice. So how are these vital congregations rethinking or repurposing other assets - from buildings to budgets, training resources and community partnerships - in ways that provide for sustainable, impactful ministry on every level?

If your community wants to reach the next level of navigating the comprehensive organizational challenges and opportunities of part-time pastoral leadership, we believe Convocation 2019 can be a transformative experience for you and your community. Much more to come ...
Location, title, and presenters will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned.
