Dear Parents,
We are committed to teaching respect and responsibility to our students. We are privileged to have wonderfully involved parents who want the same virtues and values as we do, for your children. I want to take a moment to share the best practices about homework and our school policy with you.
Students in junior high are expected to come to school with their homework complete. We understand that sometimes life happens and things that are not always in your control, or theirs, can happen. Should students come to school without their assignments complete, they will be expected to finish their homework during recess or at another time during the school day at the teacher's discretion.
Students in the intermediate grades (3, 4, and 5) are expected to have their work done as well. Because recess and physical activity are so important, we limit the amount of times a student may stay in for recess. In extreme instances, we may have a student stay in for recess, or a part of the recess to complete unfinished work or finish a test or project. This will not exceed 2 times per week.
The students in grades 2 and under will not stay in for recess to complete unfinished homework. However, we need your help and support to make sure that students complete the expected assignments on time.
The above homework recommendations do not apply to behavior issues. If your child is kept in from recess repeatedly, due to behavior, you will be notified.
Thank you for your support, commitment and dedication to educating your child together!
