Good afternoon St. Stephen Families,
This past Tuesday, we had a great turn out for our general PTCO meeting. Thank you to everyone who came out. A special thank you to Mrs. Farfan for the delicious food she prepared and a special thank you to Fr. Dermot and Fr. Anthony for joining us and answering questions. I also want to thank the many volunteers and students who helped create our Pumpkin Patch event. I heard so many good things from parents about how they enjoyed the opportunity to get together with other families and for their children to be with their friends.
Yesterday, I received word from the Office of Catholic Schools that a decision has been made regarding the hurricane days. We will not be required to make up any of the missed days. However, if we have another hurricane day or other school closing, we may be required to make that up. With our current calendar, we will have enough attendance hours to meet state requirements. Given this, I am going to move the last day of this trimester to Friday, Nov. 4 to balance Trimester 1 and 2.
All school families and Parishioners are invited to join us for our Veteran's Day Ceremony. School students will be present and participate in the ceremony as we come together to pray, remember, and honor those who served and are currently serving our country. The Knights of Columbus will also be present to present their flag folding ceremony. Students will wear their Make a Difference t-shirt with their PE shorts. They may also add patriotic accessories (red, white, and blue hair accessories, socks, jewelry, hats, shoes, nail polish, etc.) but no face painting or hair dye. We will begin our annual Walkathon right after the ceremony.
There are a great many events happening over the next few weeks. Please take the time to read all of Tidbits to learn more. Tidbits is your best source of information for what is happening at school.
Peace,
Linda Umoh

CLASS AND GRADUATION PICTURES | |
Parents,
Vernon Photography will be taking Graduation Pictures and Group Class Portraits on: Tuesday, October 18, 2022
Every class will be photographed. Please place your order online. If you can't place your order online, the office has a few order forms available.
There are 2 convenient ways to Order
-
Use the online PREPAY option to order pictures. https://www.VernonPhoto.com/order
- Download a class picture form or get one from the school office; fill it out; add payment and turn it in on picture day.
Online PREPAY eliminates lost or forgotten order forms and will be available before picture day and until one week after. This is not a proofing site to view your photos. It is simply an online way to place an order with your credit card.
8th Grade graduation photos will be offered via “online proofing” system without prepayment or need for order forms. We will photograph ALL graduating students and post photos online so parents can view the photos before they purchase.
8th graders should come to school dressed as follows:
- Bring your gown on a hanger. Girls should have the white collar sown in before they arrive at school.
- Bring your cap and tassel (be sure to write your name inside your cap).
- Boys should wear a white/light colored button-down shirt and tie, dress pants and shoes. (Bring their uniform to change into after pictures.)
- Girls should wear their uniform with a camisole or tank top under their uniform shirt (something that will not be seen under the gown) and bring dress shoes for the group picture.
- Students to wear hair in such a way that the cap fits. (No buns or high ponytails, ponytails should be low & in the back, no side ponytails.)

Retake Information
We wanted to simply explain retake day and our retake policy. Hopefully this will make things easier for you and us on retake day.
Retakes are for:
- New Staff or students that have joined you since picture day
- Any students that were absent on picture day
- Students that purchased pictures and are not happy with them.
We would like to have parents fill out our RETAKE DAY PASS query and have their student bring the retake pass with them on retake day. Please have them fill out a retake pass even if they are new. Here's what this does:
- Let's us know who and how many students to expect (new or retake)
- Helps us know that a parent is intentional in wanting a retake (and allows them to tell us what to do different)
- Helps us not overlook a student that would like a photo
- Helps eliminate students using retakes as an excuse to get out of class
Please go to www.VernonPhoto.com/Retakes to obtain a retake pass.
VERNON PHOTO - RETAKE POLICY:
Packages are replaced at NO CHARGE IF:
- The student has a bad expression
- Something is wrong with the photo that we should have caught and fixed
Pictures are retaken with a 'retake fee' IF:
- If you would like a package but don't like your original photo and didn't purchase a package from the original picture day (no extra fee charged other than the package you purchase)
- Something will be different about the new photo that was not under our control (example: change of clothing, haircut, glasses on or off)
- If you did not purchase a package, don't want to purchase a package but want a different photo in the yearbook
If you have any questions about retakes please contact Vernon Photography directly through Support@VernonPhoto.com.

Important Information regarding volunteering
This is a reminder that when you sign up to come into the school for volunteer hours your Safe Environment and Fingerprints must be complete. Please note that it may take some time to get an appointment for your fingerprints. Please call the front office if you have any questions.
Please remember, when you come to school to volunteer, siblings of your student or other children may not be with you. It is difficult to give your attention to the task at hand with young children present. Thank you for understanding.

Own The Avenue is a year-round fundraiser for the PTCO and gives you a great way to give your child a shout out for the school community to see! Birthdays, achievements, any positive vibes and kudos are welcome, and they certainly make your student feel special!
The sign is located on the corner of our school parking lot and will be viewed and celebrated for the entire week. A PTCO member will be responsible for putting up the sign, and after the week is done the sign will be sent home with your student for you to keep or to reuse for another week in the future!
| |
|
How it works:
If you have an existing sign, the cost is $30 for the week. If we need to order a new sign, the cost is $50 for the week. Please make payments through the school's front office. To sign up, please use the link below and more details will follow. Please note, new signs take up to 2 weeks to process and receive from our vendor. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Maria Ayala at own.the.avenue.sscs@gmail.com Thank you in advance for your support!
IMPORTANT: Please note, this is a yearly fundraiser that is on a first come, first served basis (via
SignUpGenius). For example, if you purchase a sign this year for a specific week 9-4-22 thru 9-10-22, that same week is not guaranteed to you for future years. It is required that you sign up each school year if you wish to participate.
