Letter from the Reverend Jody Burnett

Dear Friends,

As we brace for the impact of Hurricane Milton, I bid your continued prayers for the people of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. Pray especially for those who have lost loved ones, homes, and businesses, and for emergency response teams and their families. Opportunities will surely come in the days ahead for us to deploy people and physical resources to assist with aid and recovery efforts. For now, the best way we can help is to donate money to help meet immediate needs. We are taking up a special collection to send to Bishop Russell, who will then disperse these funds to bishops and clergy who are on the ground in the affected dioceses. You can contribute to this effort by sending a check or making an online gift and simply noting “hurricane recovery” in the memo line of your payment. Your prayers and generosity will be a gift to those who are struggling to pick up the pieces of their lives in the wake of these natural disasters. May God give us all his peace and strength.

Yours in faith and gratitude,

Jody+

Parish Work Day

Such a wonderful day of fellowship, fun, and work! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Louise Bixler, Gaillard Bixler, Dalton, Sullivan, Jack, and Virginia Daves, Wayne and Steedly Dean, Miranda Dismukes, Glenn and Todd Gallaspy, Fran Marshall, Matt, Kate, Mary Stewart, and Houston McLean, Laura Roe, Bowden Sarrett, and our beloved BOY SCOUTS! Thank you also to Shannon Cook and Ginny Russell for offering extra hands and feet leading up to our work day! These work days are great not only to build community but to do extra things our grounds crew doesn’t have time to do. We will be doing this quarterly so please come join us next time if you weren’t able to this time! Also, reach out to pamb@stpmobile.com or call the church office, 251-342-8521, if you would like to help us maintain our flower beds (just weeding as needed) by adopting a bed. We are grateful for you and the legacy of those who had a vision for St. Paul’s and these beautiful grounds we enjoy!
