Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 PM
Library | Parks & Recreation Center, 901 Civic Campus Way
1st Floor, City Council Chambers
Amid an era attacked by funding cuts and government shutdowns, public lands have entered a vulnerable zone of sacrifice. In this presentation, geologist, author, and professional mountain biker Dillon Osleger traces the past, present, and possible futures of America’s public lands through a cartographer’s lens, revealing how the erasure of our nation’s trails has progressed in lockstep with the ever-encroaching enclosure of public land. Osleger will dive into the complexity of trails, historically and contemporary, the public land that they exist on and talk about his book, Trail Work: A Memoir of Public Lands, Loss, and the Hidden History Beneath Our Feet.
