Book Club
Tuesday, October 19th
1:00 PM

The Book Club will meet again on Tuesday, October 19th and discuss Mrs. Everything, by Jennifer Weiner. This is a beautifully written multi-generational novel. Jo and Bethie are sisters growing up in 1950s Detroit. Jo is the tomboy rebel, while Bethie is a feminine good girl. As the novel traces these girls’ lives through the Vietnam War, Woodstock, women’s lib, and more, Jo and Bethie survive tragedy and traumas. Neither woman grew up into the person they expected to be. But is it too late for them to find their place in the world?

Grace Place News
Our children had a special visit from the Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Department last week. They got to see two fire trucks and the special equipment used in fire fighting. They were also taught about fire prevention and safety. Thank you IMVFD for being with us!
The classes will continue with name writing and recognition, making their ABC journals, and we will start a fun lesson called Write the Room. We will also begin focusing on two sight words (on, an). All of the classes will make craft projects, sing songs, dance to music, and attend Chapel with Pastor Wen.

Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who helped Lord Of Life’s team achieve our goal! Cookie bakers, cookie monsters, and donors helped us exceed our goal of $1,000. The total raised to help in the fight against breast cancer was $1057! The rain held off on Sunday. Christine, Noah, and Abigail Bencivengo, and Ed and Lu Hourihan met at Wonderland pier in Ocean City to walk together. This year there was a 2 mile marker for those who did not want to traverse the narrow part of the boardwalk included in the 5K walk. Thanks again to all who helped save lives from breast cancer!

From The Editors:

LifeLines Ending Song:
In our ELCA Church Calendar, Reformation Day occurs each year on October 31st. Reformation Sunday would be the nearest Sunday prior to or on that date. This year, they coincide. Here is the memorable hymn by Martin Luther for our ending song. It is ELW Hymn #504. Sing along!

"The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
Psalm 18:2 NRSV
