The Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, in partnership with the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism, have the pleasure of inviting you to the 15
th
annual René Cassin Lectureship on Human Rights. This year’s Lectureship will be delivered by Phillippe Sands, Professor of Law at University College London and barrister at Matrix Chambers, of which he was a co-founder in 1999. Professor Sands practices as counsel before many international courts, including the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
The René Cassin Lectureship was established in 1988 by the Isréalite Universelle

in collaboration with the McGill Faculty of Law and Interamicus
–
to mark the centenary of the birth of René Cassin who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1968. The Alliance Isréalite Universelle is one of the oldest and most distinguished human rights organizations, having been founded in Paris in 1860. René Cassin was its President from 1943 to 1969.
Professor Sands will base his lecture on his most recent book:
East West Street and the Origins of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity: Looking Back, Looking Forward
. The book has won numerous prizes, including the 2016 Baillie Gifford (Samuel Johnson) Prize, the 2017 British Book Awards Non-Fiction Book of the Year, and the 2018 Prix Montaigne.

Le Centre Raoul Wallenberg pour les droits de la personne en collaboration avec le Centre sur les droits de la personne et le pluralisme juridique de McGill ont le plaisir de vous inviter à la 15e Conférence René Cassin sur les droits de la personne qui sera présentée par M. Philippe Sands, avocat, auteur, professeur, et directeur du Centre sur les cours intérnationales, University College London.
La conférence René Cassin a été établie en 1988 par l'Alliance Isréalite Universelle, en collaboration avec la Faculté de droit de McGillet et Interamicus, dans le but de souligner le centenaire de la naissance de René Cassin, qui a reçu le prix Nobel de la paix en 1968. L'Alliance Isréalite Universelle est un organisme de défense des droits de la personne qui a une histoire distinguée, ayant été fondée à Paris en 1860. René Cassin en a été le Président entre 1943 et 1969.
