AB14 Signed
The Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, in partnership with the Santa Barbara Air District have successfully championed AB14 through the state legislature and now securing the governor’s signature. AB14 implements a statewide marine vessel speed reduction program along the California coast in order to reduce air pollution, the risk of fatal vessel strikes on whales, and harmful underwater acoustic impacts.

Administration Cancels $26B in Energy and DEI Projects
The US DOE has cancelled $8B in climate-related projects in 16 states including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Washington. An $18B project in New York on hold due to, “... unconstitutional DEI principles.”

GM Discontinues Effort to Extend Federal Tax Credit
GM had been working on a strategy to pass the $7,500 federal tax credit to people who leased vehicles that were purchased by GM Finance before September 30. Due to resistance from Congress, GM has dropped this effort.

US Moves to Develop Domestic Supplies of Critical Minerals and Semiconductors
The Administration is aggressively pushing forward with efforts to build domestic supply sources for the critical minerals needed for energy-dense batteries and for semiconductors. Projects being fast tracked include sites in Alaska, Nevada and California. Additional efforts are being developed in Greenland.
