Happy Sabbath! 🍂
My heart is overflowing with gratitude for life. On October 16, our family celebrates a tender testimony: my great-nephew Maison was born at 30 weeks, just over 2 lbs, and God has carried him beautifully—he’s turned one! October 16 is also my oldest sister’s birthday; although she passed away over ten years ago, the Lord blessed us with Maison on that very day. I’m in Atlanta this weekend to celebrate his life, and he will be blessed tomorrow. God is good. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” — Luke 1:37
With that same gratitude, I’m happy to share that First Quarter has ended—and what a quarter it has been! Thank you for your prayers, partnership, and steady support. We look forward to all the blessings God will pour into Second Quarter.
Around VAA:
- Our middle school visited Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement—can’t wait to hear their reflections and see learning come to life.
- 7th & 8th graders head to SVA Academy Days this Sunday–Monday. We’re praying for safe travels and a meaningful experience.
- Fall Spirit Week is next week—please see the flyer below and show your Cougar pride!
- Basketball Season begins. Practice days are Monday and Wednesday. See flyer below. Volleyball practice is on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Hispanic Heritage Celebration is next Friday—come support and bring a dish to share.
- Fall Festival is coming up soon—please volunteer (link below). We need your help to make it a joyful success!
Reminders
- Mon, Oct 27: Asynchronous Learning Day (no in-person classes).
- Thu, Oct 31: Sight & Sound payments due. Please send in permission slips so we can secure your ticket and a seat on the bus.
That’s all from my desk. Have a blessed Sabbath and weekend!

Hi-ya! 🥋 Big News:
After 4 years of grit and growth in the dojo, Trent Zeller has earned his Black Belt! From sharpening skills with nunchucks (nunchaku), sword (⚔️), escrima sticks, bo staff, and kamas to focused sparring, Trent showed discipline, respect, and perseverance every step of his belt test. He celebrated with his classmates—and the whole school—with donuts to cap off a knockout day. Way to go!

Our middle school scientists were hard at work this week!
Our 5th & 6th graders explored how temperature affects the saturation point of a solute in water — watching science come to life right before their eyes!
Meanwhile, our 7th & 8th graders investigated the components of sand using hand lenses, magnets, and tweezers. They discovered at least 9 different elements hiding in the sand, including quartz, pyrites, and iron!
Hands-on learning at its best! #STEM

Apple & Pumpkin Season in PreK–K!
It’s apple-and-pumpkin season for our PreK and Kindergarten classes! Our little learners have been painting pumpkins, making applesauce, learning about Johnny Appleseed, and creating apple-stamp art. What a wonderful, hands-on way to celebrate fall! 🍎🎃

It’s that time of year again — our Robotics Teams are back in action!
This year’s theme is “Unearthed,” and our young engineers are already off to a great start — building basic robots and learning how to code using the color sensor!
A huge thank you to our amazing coach, Mrs. Laurie Golson, for her time, dedication, and leadership, and to all of our wonderful volunteers who make this program possible.
Stay tuned for all things #VAARobotics

Innovation Lab: From Ideas to Impact
Our innovators are on a mission! Students selected a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to champion, learned how to define a problem, and are mapping out solutions with design thinking. They’re building skills in Tinkercad—learning how to model, measure, and prep files—so they’ll be ready to 3D-print prototypes soon. Big ideas, real-world impact—coming right up! 💡🌍🖥️
