Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time - October 18, 2020
On Opening of Church for Worship
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

According to the Santa Clara County directives issued on October 13, outdoor gatherings for worship up to 200 people and indoor gatherings of up to the lesser of 100 people or 25% capacity is permitted. This is good news! We are grateful to the Lord that the pandemic situation is improving. However, as Bishop Cantu says, "We must all remain vigilant against the coronavirus pandemic and practice all the safety precautions to which we’ve become accustomed for the sake of the most vulnerable among us."

We are committed to following the county and state guidelines and protocols to make our gatherings for worship safe. Our staff members, the Pastoral Council, and Liturgy Teams are discussing to come up with workable plans. We hope to send it to you in a separate email within the week. However for this weekend, please take note of the following:

1.   During the weekend of October 17-18, we will have the regular three outdoor Masses in the school courtyard at 8.30am, 9.30am and 10.30am. These Masses will be open for 100 persons each by sign up. You are requested to follow all the guidelines specified in the sign up form. Saturday, October 17 at 5.00pm, Mass will be livestreamed as usual.

2.   From October 19 onwards, daily Masses (Monday – Friday) will be at 8.00am. It is open to 100 persons by sign up. We will continue to live-stream the 8.00am Mass on Zoom and Facebook as well.

Please look out for further information on parish website and through e-bulletin.

Thanking you all and looking forward to seeing you at the table of the Lord,

With prayers and blessing,

Fr. Saju and Fr. Gener

 PEACE & JUSTICE MINISTRY

Voting with a Catholic Conscience
Our Catholic faith teaches that we have a moral responsibility to vote for the good of the community. Catholic social justice teachings help us discern who will lead our country truthfully and justly. Catholics are called to defend, support, and protect the sacredness of all human life. We cannot be single issues voters. In addition to abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty, the sacred issues that Pope Francis asks us to bring into the voting booth include protecting people in poverty, the elderly, migrants, the environment and rejecting racism. Before we cast our vote, we pray for the wisdom to choose a candidate that will promote healing, equality, peace and prosperity for all.

POPE'S NEW ENCYCLICAL FRATELLI TUTTI

In his third Encyclical, Fratelli tutti , Pope Francis addresses his renewed call to universal fraternity “to all people of good will, regardless of their religious convictions.” Amid the “noisy potpourri of facts and opinions” present in today’s world, the Holy Father suggests respectful dialogue and proposes that we answer with “a new vision of fraternity and social friendship" to build a better, more just, and peaceful world, with the contribution of all: people and institutions.

“We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers.” —1Thes. 1:2
It is common that people turn to God in their need, asking for help and for God to fix bad things. But today’s scripture encourages us to always give thanks to God in prayer, for the good things and even the bad. Most especially, remember to pray for others and their needs. It can be a blessing to others to have someone praying for them, even if they are not aware of it. They may feel a little happier the day you pray for them, without knowing why. You could consider yourself a “secret agent of prayer” working for God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for all the special people you have put into our lives. Please bless them in a special way today.

Who are some of the people you can pray for on a regular basis?
