Ed Gerety - Motivational Speaker
On Thursday, Oct 18, NPS enjoyed a school-wide assembly sponsored by the Narragansett Prevention Partnership. Internationally-known speaker, Ed Gerety, inspired the students to reach out to connect with each other. Through story telling and engaging activities, Ed encouraged students "to be grateful, be respectful, be responsible and be kind.”

On October 11th some of our 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to experience the inner workings of the C-Span bus. They were able to try their hand at reporting the news and test their knowledge in a variety of current events and history.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. During Advisory each Wednesday students have been doing a variety of activities. The 5th graders used our front sidewalk to share their messages of positive words and pictures with Chalk It Up. Sixth grade students did a K.I.N.D.N.E.S.S. Poem contest to be displayed and voted on during Parent Conferences. Seventh and eighth graders watched a video on cyberbullying and then answered questions. Together we are united for Kindness, Acceptance and Inclusion.

You're Invited: NHS Fall Open House

Narragansett High School would like to formally invite you and your family to a fall Open House.

When:  Saturday, November 3 | 9am-12pm  
Where:  Narragansett High School
Learn about extensive Career and Technical Education Pathways in  Information and Computer Technology Agriculture Science , and our newest offering,  Mechanical Trades in Plumbing , which are available to students in district and across Rhode Island. Join us to explore the many advantages in becoming a Mariner. 
The 8th grade class has started shadowing freshman at the high school to see what their day at NHS will be like. Invitations are passed out to the students a week prior to their shadow day. Students walk over to the high school at 9:30 where they are paired with a freshman and follow that student's schedule. Lunch is also provided. They then return to NPS at 2:00.
On October 25th, the 8th grade class will be taking the PSAT in Science. Students should come to school
on time and be well rested.

Tryouts for Winter Sports begin November 13th. Even if you participated in a Fall Sport you must sign up on FamilyID for Winter Sports. In order to be eligible for tryouts the first day remember to register on FamilyID and sign the Assumption of Risk form and have a current physical on file.

T RYOUT SCHEDULE
Girls' Basketball: tryouts start Tuesday, November 13th 2:45 until 4:30
Boys' Basketball: tryouts start Tuesday, November 13th 6th & 7th 4:30 until 6:30; Wednesday November 14th for 8th grade 4:30 until 6:30; November 15th the selected two groups 4:30 until 6:30.
Cheerleading: Tryouts will start Tuesday, November 13th in the cafe from 6:30 until 8:30. Bring a water bottle and comfortable shoes. There will be optional cheerleading workouts November 2nd, 5th, 7th and 9th.
Wrestling: practice starts Monday, November 19th in the gym at 2:45. There are no cuts.

Power School
A good way to keep track of grades and attendance for your child. Power School access codes are available to all students and their parents. If you are sill in need of yours, please call the office and one will be mailed home. If your child needs theirs, they may go to the office or guidance to get theirs.

Dear Parents/ Guardians,
        Our Community Flu Vaccine Clinic will be held on Thursday, November 8th at the Pier School cafeteria from 4:00-6:30 PM. It is open to everyone. If you have insurance, please bring your card. There is no out of pocket cost for anyone, no money will be collected. Flu mist and Flu vaccine by injection will be available. You can register online at www.schoolflu.com  or when you come to the clinic.
        The R.I. Dept.of Health requires that a report of recent physical and updated immunizations be recorded on each 7th Grade student. If you have not done so, please send in the necessary paperwork as soon as possible. Call me at 792-9430 if you need assistance in obtaining services or have any questions or concerns.
      Please let me know if your child has become ill or contracted a communicable condition (flu, pneumonia, strep throat, lice, pink eye, etc.). This information is confidential and I appreciate your assistance so that I can monitor the rest of the students.

You DO NOT need to re-register your card if your school selection(s) remains the same as last year.

New Supporters or Existing Supporters Wishing to Make Changes:

·          Beginning August 3, 2018 , visit stopandshop.com  and select SIGN IN at the top right to log into your online account Once logged in, select MY ACCOUNT, MANAGE MY ACCOUNT , then REWARDS & SAVINGS to select your school. 
·          If you do not have an online account, visit stopandshop.com and click REGISTER . Follow the prompts to create your online account. Once logged in, follow the instructions listed above.
·          You’ll need your 13-digit Stop & Shop Card number and the School ID # OR, if you need assistance call 1-877-366-2668 OPTION #1

To Earn Points:
·      Use your registered Stop & Shop Card each time you shop at any Stop & Shop, and you will earn CASH for our school. You can confirm your school selection by logging into your account.
·        At the end of each month, your points are calculated and converted to CASH rewards. These CASH rewards for our school are updated monthly. You can track our progress when you sign in to your online account. 
·      Our school will receive one CASH rewards check at the end of the program and can use this cash for any of our educational needs.

Also, please encourage your family members and friends to support our school. This could result in more CASH REWARDS and programs to benefit our kids.
