There are definitely 'close-up' and 'far-away' camps.

Some clients prefer the close traditional headshot crop while others want a little breathing room around their head and shoulders. When we review the images on the computer just after shooting I am often surprised by a strong feeling one way or another. Not everyone has these strong feelings but many do. And you know what? That's just fine. There is no right or wrong style of headshot.

But because I'm never sure which style a client will prefer I shoot both. I always start farther away. This allows clients, who are often a little nervous, to adjust to the studio and lighting set without my camera up in their face. Once we've warmed up, I'll slowly move in.

The beautiful thing is any of the farther away shots can be cropped closer. If you chose one we'll automatically deliver a full, farther way version AND a traditional headshot crop version. You'll receive two useable shots; one close-up, one far-away!

HOT TIP - if you don't want to be a BIG FACE in the LinkedIn profile circle then upload the far-away shot. The table, hands and body won't show and you will have more room around your head in the profile circle than if you upload the traditional headshot.

Another route is to order an additional image. Maybe your first preference is a close shot, but you also like that casual, leaning-in shot with your arms on the table. Order it! How often do you actually like a photo of yourself? If there are more that one give yourself that gift. It is affirmation you are indeed attractive... maybe you just haven't had the benefit of being photographed by a skilled photographer before.

Some clients update their profiles periodically rotating their multiple headshots to keep things fresh and gain more attention. Others use each image for a separate purpose; their company About page uses one, their own Speaker website, another. Having more than one shot adds versatility to your personal branding.

Whether you are a close-up or far-away headshot kind of person you'll have 30-40 shots to choose from. And yes, you get to choose (with my help)! You are an active collaborator in the process. No surprises.
