One Community One Family

in Christ

Dear Christ the King Catholic School Community,

This past weekend, we were blessed to experience the laughter, joy, and fun-filled spirit of our school’s beloved Festival, a cherished tradition that continues to illuminate the heart of our community and strengthen the bonds that make CTK so special.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nicole Becker Zucconi, Denise Rigli, their dedicated Festival leadership team, and the countless volunteers whose creativity, generosity, and tireless efforts brought this extraordinary celebration to life. Nicole and Denise have exemplified exceptional leadership through their strong work ethic, innovative thinking, unwavering commitment to our students and families, and an inspiring can-do spirit. Behind the scenes, countless hours of brainstorming, designing, planning, problem-solving, and execution have transformed their vision into a memorable celebration for our entire community.

We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and deeply grateful to Nicole and Denise, their families, and every volunteer and community member who has given so generously of their time, talents, resources, donations, and energy. Their dedication reflects the very best of CTK and embodies our spirit of One Community One Family in Christ.

From the incredible talent show and lively music to the delicious food, laughter, games, and countless opportunities to connect, the Festival was a wonderful celebration of who we are. More than an event, it was a beautiful reminder that our greatest strength lies in coming together, creating lasting memories, and celebrating the joy that unites us as One Community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Festival such a tremendous success. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment continue to make this beloved tradition shine brightly in the life and legacy of Christ the King Catholic School.

Carondelet and De La Salle High Schools visited our eighth-grade students this afternoon for their annual on-campus admissions meetings. We are grateful for these opportunities to help our students explore the exciting educational journeys that lie ahead. We look forward to celebrating Mass this Friday with Father Paulson, with our second-grade students leading us in this beautiful expression of faith and community.

During this extraordinary month of our Holy Mother’s Rosary, we give thanks to Mary for her wisdom, grace, peace, and protection. May her loving presence continue to guide our hearts, strengthen our faith, and lead us ever closer to her beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power of the Holy Rosary, may we find comfort in her maternal care and allow the light of Christ to shine through us in every moment, every encounter, and every act of love and service.

May our Holy Mother continue to watch over our Christ the King Catholic School family, blessing our students, families, faculty, and staff with the peace of her Son and the enduring joy of our Catholic faith.

In closing, Saint Maximilian Kolbe powerfully proclaimed, “Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Mother too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.”

All Glory and honor to Christ our King and much gratitude and blessings to everyone,

Joseph M. Silveira Ed.D.

From Father Paulson

Dear School Parents,

We will be celebrating a special Halloween Mass on Sunday, October 25, at 9:00 a.m. Mass.

We would love to invite all our Faith Formation children, School families and CYO to come to Mass wearing their Halloween costumes and to participate in this special celebration. Our Mass will focus on the true Christian meaning of Halloween—All Hallows’ Eve—and on the saints, the holy men and women who remind us that we are all called to holiness.

Children who would like to participate should arrive 20 minutes early and gather in the Parish Hall. Our catechists will organize them and bring them into the church. The children will then process around the church in their costumes so that the whole parish community can see and celebrate them. We will make it a joyful and memorable experience for our children and families.

This will be a wonderful opportunity not only to have some Halloween fun, but also to teach our children that Halloween ultimately points us toward All Saints’ Day and our own call to become saints.

Thank you for helping us make this a special celebration for our children! If you have questions, please connect with Rick Lejano:  rgrandlejano@ctkph.org

Blessings,

Father Paulson

Saints Among us Mass

Halloween is coming, and we’re celebrating it the way the Church always has, with the saints! Join us for our All Hallows’ Eve: Saints Among Us Mass on Sunday, October 25 at 9:00 AM.

Kids are invited to come in costume. It’s a great chance to remind our kids (and ourselves!) that the saints were ordinary people who loved God in extraordinary ways, and that we’re all called to holiness too. Bring the whole family, and we’ll see you there!

Want your child to take part at Mass?

We’d love to have our students help out at Children’s Masses throughout the year, whether that’s reading as a lector, bringing up the gifts, or taking part in other special moments in the liturgy. All of our volunteer spots are filled but if you are interested in the future please fill out our Mass Involvement Form and we’ll add you to our mailing list. Whenever an opportunity comes up (including for our All Hallows’ Eve Mass!), you’ll be the first to hear about it.

Prayers

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to accept Your love and support. As our days get shorter and the cooler weather comes in we can look to You for light and warmth. Help us to remember to be a good neighbor and friend to those in our community, after all we are all just walking each other home to You. Please hear the intentions in our hearts.

We pray for Pope Leo XIV as he battles illness. We pray that God grants healing grace upon him. We pray for Clara (5th), Conor (3rd) and Quinn (K) Moore's mother Elizabeth as she recovers from surgery.

If you have special intentions please email Mrs. Meran here so we can include them in our next newsletter.

A Heartfelt Thank You from Your

Festival Chairs!

Joy and Laughter! Our school theme truly came to life this weekend, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the joy, laughter, and wonderful memories that filled our campus!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible sponsors, festival committee, volunteers, and every family and friend who came out to celebrate. A special thank you to the OG Committee, who has been by our side from day 1- you know who you are and know we couldn't have done it for 5 years without you. It takes an amazing community to make an event like this possible, and we are so grateful to be part of ours.

As we wrap up our fifth and final year as Festival Chairs, we want to share just how much this experience has meant to us. We have truly loved every minute of the past five years — the planning, the friendships, the teamwork, and most of all, seeing our CTK community come together year after year.

Thank you for five unforgettable years of memories, smiles, and celebrations. It has been an absolute joy!

With gratitude,

Nicole & Denise

Halloween Guidelines

Halloween is coming up soon! We will be celebrating with the annual Halloween parade after the morning assembly on 10/30. Parents are invited to stay and watch! As students prepare their costumes, please review the guidelines below:

Halloween Costume Guidelines

  1. Costumes that depict alcohol, drugs, violence, or violent characters are not permitted. Fake weapons are not allowed.
  2. Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture or heritage are not permitted.
  3. Costumes should not hinder students’ ability to participate in classes, including PE.
  4. School rules regarding dress code must be followed: No short skirts/shorts (skirts/shorts must be no shorter than 2” above the knee), no bare midriffs, no bare shoulders, or low necklines.
  5. Students or parents who have questions about the acceptability of their costumes should check with their homeroom teacher prior to wearing the costumes to school.
  6. Students wearing inappropriate costumes will need to call home to have a change of clothes brought to them.

Thank you all for supporting appropriate, distraction-free learning environments for students by adhering to these guidelines. We’re looking forward to all the fun Halloween festivities!

Volunteering on Campus

Please make sure you have completed the Virtus training and are up to date on all vounteer requirements before you volunteer on campus.

We are so happy to have volunteers on campus! We want to thank everyone for giving their time to help our school year be the best that it can be. Please remember all volunteers must have the following on file in the school office prior to volunteering on campus:

  • Complete the Virtus Training (must be completed each year), and submit the certificate
  • Submit proof of a negative TB test or TB Risk Assessment questionnaire completed and signed by licensed health care provider
  • Have a completed Volunteer Application Form on file in the office
  • Livescan Fingerprinting

If you are unsure if you are up to date, please email Mrs. Rubino here to check.

Virtus Updates

We understand that all of our parents are busy and are pulled in different directions. Thank you to those that have already completed the new mandated Virtus training. This training must be completed each year. For this school year everyone needs to complete the training by October 31st. Anyone who does not comply will be suspended from Virtus and unable to be on campus. If parents try to volunteer without the virtus training our school faces significant civil liability issues and can be sued for negligent supervision.

Thank you for understanding that we are all doing our best to keep our students safe and our parents volunteering. We are all on the same team working with the Diocese to move forward.

Looking foward to seeing the kids out on the court!

Any questions, please email cyo@ctkph.org.

Corporate Match

Double Your Impact: Corporate Matching

Many employers will match donations you make to CTK often dollar for dollar, sometimes more. That means a $250 gift can arrive at the school as $500 or more, at no additional cost to you.

Matched gifts count toward your commitments. Your contributions are credited toward your School Fund Assessment contribution. You can also designate your donation to go towards a particular fund/fundraiser of your choice.

Please note that corporate matching gifts ( your's plus your company's contribution ) are not eligible for tuition credits, a change that took effect in the 2025–26 school year and is noted in the handbook this year as well.

How to check: Ask your HR department whether your employer offers a matching gift program, or search your company's giving portal. Many run through Benevity or YourCause. Our EIN is 94-2243147 and we are registered as Christ the King Catholic School, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Thank you

Dear CTK -SS Parish and School Community,

On behalf of the SVDP Hillcrest Layette Program, the Gabriel Project and Birthright of Concord, we thank our wonderful CTK-SS community for working together and bringing in so many useful items for our babies and mothers in need. Your generosity resulted in over 1,000 items of clothing and baby supplies being donated to these charities! Just, wow!

We were overwhelmed by the kindness of so many and we know that these charities  wouldn't be able to offer as much tangible help and support to local women and children without this generosity.

Additionally, we send a special thank you to the CTK Student Council and faculty who did such a great job organizing and motivating the school community at CTK. Well done to students, parents and faculty alike!

Thank you for standing with us and respecting life. You truly made an impactful and positive difference in our community!

Sincerely,

Joyce Cardoza and Jodie Russi,
