Celebrate the holiday season with WSAE at the 2013 Holiday Event. We'll kick it off the evening of Dec. 5 with our Tabletop Showcase and Reception. Meet new friends and catch up with old ones, while checking out everything our industry partners have to offer.
The Annual Awards Dinner will recognize our 2013 recipients (see next article to nominate a colleague) and provide time for our annual business meeting.
On Dec. 6, we're excited to have Sarah Sladek, author of The End of Membership as We Know It. She'll explain how the definition and delivery of membership have changed and how we can adjust to thrive in the future and keep our members coming back for more.

One day left to throw your hat in the ring
The deadline for submitting your name for consideration for the 2014 board of directors slate of candidates is almost here. Consider completing the nomination form if you'd like the opportunity to step up and lead your organization.
The Board is elected by the membership to provide vision, leadership and oversight of the association. Board service requires commitment, but brings tremendous personal and professional benefits including: the opportunity to meet, work with and learn from industry peers; professional recognition; the chance to share your experiences and knowledge with others; and a chance to contribute to the future of your profession.

WSAE Board recognizes Representative Mark Pocan
The WSAE Board recently sent a letter of appreciation to Wisconsin Representative Mark Pocan for his commitment to associations. Specifically, he was thanked for the work done by him and his staff on the amendment to the GSA Act of 2013, which softens the limitations on conference attendance by federal employees. The board appreciates his recognition of the importance of the amendment not only to our industry, but to the federal employees that attend association conferences.

Stairway to the C-Suite
Take your career to the C-level by joining your peers for a one-day leadership workshop on Oct. 28. Open Leadership: Building Relationships That Will Lead to Success will teach you how to motivate, encourage and inspire all stakeholders to deliver on organizational goals.
Jerry McGrath, director of innovation and program partnership, The Banff Center, will demonstrate how open leadership will enable you to cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide frameworks and processes to support scaling, remove friction to information sharing, enable fast responses and gain the commitment of people.
Continue the conversation at the "After Class" party, hosted by Travel Alberta and The Banff Centre at South Branch, just blocks away from Association Forum Headquarters. For our out-of-town guests, Association Forum has arranged a special rate at the Crowne Plaza Metro.
WSAE members are invited to attend at the Association Forum member rate by entering the discount code of WSAE13.
