"Downtown Art more than window dressing in Basalt."

Dear Friends,

The Art of Possibility has manifested in so many different and wonderful ways during the last four months.  It will take me a couple future newsletters to describe it all.  For now, I introduce you to "Creative Spaces,"  a collaboration with the Basalt Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Basalt.  This is an initiative about which I am most proud - and to think we are just beginning.  Please click on the link to the Aspen Times article.  Scott Condon absolutely nailed the concept of revitalization through art.

    • Furniture & Marquetry Art by Dave Struempler

The "Creative Spaces" project, launched by the Basalt Chamber and Toklat Gallery, is a collaboration between artists, galleries, property owners, and the business community. We fill the Town's prime empty spaces with art until they are leased or sold, then together we welcome a new business to Basalt.

We thank property owners Mike Waters, agents Fleisher Company and Sothebys International Realty for bank owned spaces and the Town of Basalt

Some of you know that since June I have been hobbling around with a left knee brace.  Ah, so any stories I have heard about knees this summer.  On Tuesday the 14th I have a date with Dr. Eleanor von Stade and Rio the Robot to have a partial new knee.  My friends have circled the wagons and I will be spoiled rotten by the time this is over.  However, the gallery will be closed from Monday the 13th probably until the end of the month.  People have asked where I am going on vacation this year - my reply - to Aspen Valley Hospital and then to Rehab!!   I can hardly wait - it has been a bit of a drag gimping around and Liwu thinks I am such a stick in the mud right now.  He will go visit his poodle girlfriend and probably forget all about me!!
