 A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Greetings,

September was an exciting month for the Chamber, and its businesses. Cruise ship shore excursions, with numerous tour buses, brought record numbers of people to Lower Village and Dock Square.  Our tourism concierge staff greeted the buses, delivering our Experience the Kennebunks guidebook and our area map to many. It proved to be an exciting opportunity to create a greater awareness of the area, with many people expressing "we love it here ... we'll be back!" That's always good to hear!

Our Annual Meeting was a great success, with over 130 people in attendance. Congratulations to the award-winners, and the businesses/organizations they represent! Winners included:

Business of the Year - Kennebunk Savings;

Joel Stevens Community Spirit - Tim Hussey,

Hussey Manufacturing;

Volunteer of the Year - Sheila Matthews-Bull; and

President's Award - Todd Shea, Town Manager, Town of Arundel.

Take a look at our October schedule of events. We have two Business After Hours, a new lunchtime business seminar, Halloween and more. Our online Holiday Auction begins late October, and the live Holiday Auction is slated for November 19. Contact the Chamber if you would like participate and donate an auction item!  Here's a great opportunity for your business' visibility.

As always, with an open-door philosophy, the Chamber welcomes you to stop by. We would love to hear from you. If you have ideas, concerns, or need help navigating through business resources and information, feel free to call me or set up a time to meet. I would be more than happy to help.

Best regards,

Denise M. Clavette, Executive Director
