As the fall season begins in La Quinta, we're excited and our hearts are full. The new Calle
Tampico location provides a more open and creative space for our classes. Walk-in traffic is
strong and we've made many new studio friends.
Mission energy and activity is at an all time high. The new studio is full of children and seniors,
those with disabilities and those with a need for art therapy as part of their healing regimen.
Not to mention those who want to explore their own burgeoning or revived creative talents. We
have students who have never worked in ceramics before, and we have students who are
returning to the pottery wheel after 40 years. Faces light up when hands are full of wet clay.
Glass classes are growing, we're offering painting and drawing workshops, and every day
someone else calls or writes asking us to provide an art experience. Our outreach classes are
full, and even with an additional instructor coming on board, our calendar is full!
If you could be here, you'd see:
♥ The 2 year old painting her ducky bright pink.
♥ The 3 year old accompanied by his father excited about his first pinch pot.
♥ The 10 year old making large animal sculptures with Art Director Stefania.
♥ The boy who so loves wheel throwing with our instructor Colby that he made a cardboard
box "kiln" at home and loaded it with mud figures.
♥ The advanced adult class with 20-somethings and 60-somethings working side by side
sharing techniques and life experiences.
♥ The free Discovering Clay class on Saturday where children create their first piece of art.
♥ A sculpture class with students from 35 to 70 molding clay into amazing portraits.
We offer workshops for specialty projects - a luminaria workshop, a glass lotus bowl workshop,
a pumpkin carving workshop, and soon an exciting Raku workshop when the weather cools
down. The holiday season will allow us to offer some fun family projects as well.
Our weekly classes are ongoing with Angel View, Desert Arc, and La Quinta High School special
needs students. These relationships definitely prove that working with clay brings joy and smiles
to all. There's something about getting messy that frees the creative spirit in everyone.
As you read through the newsletter, you'll see the mission in action. Please come to the studio
and see for yourself. We love visitors!
