REI BAILEY'S CROSSROADS

In honor of Virginia's Public Lands Day, NVCT staff teamed up with REI at their Bailey's Crossroads store to meet other outdoor enthusiasts and share information about our organization. We offered information on places to recreate in Northern Virginia, our annual photo contest, our upcoming event at Leopold's Preserve and other ways the community can get involved with us.

Those who stopped by were given the opportunity to submit their name into a drawing for a $50 REI gift card. Congratulations to our lucky winner, Elizabeth! Thank you to the wonderful staff at REI who allowed us to partner up for the day and get our message out to hundreds of Northern Virginia residents!

RALLY 2018 - NATIONAL LAND CONSERVATION CONFERENCE

Four NVCT staff members attended this year's National Land Conservation Conference in Pittsburgh, PA from October 11-13. The event is a gathering of nearly 2,000 passionate land conservation leaders and is hosted by the Land Trust Alliance. The conference featured more than 250 industry experts who shared their knowledge and inspired participants.

LEOPOLD'S PRESERVE RUN

Join us for the mini-family-festival at Leopold's Preserve on Saturday, October 20 starting at 2:00 p.m. In addition to a one mile, 5k and 10k option, the event will offer games, a face painter, balloon sculptures, a photo booth, local vendors and much more. Races begin in the afternoon.

Runners will have the opportunity to travel on unpaved trails and boardwalks through forest, meadows, streams and wetlands. The area consists of 380 acres of natural, open space conserved forever by NVCT - and we're proud to be a sponsor for this year's event. Volunteers are welcome.
