How are low-income Emiratis doing in secondary schools in the UAE? This study uses PISA 2015 data to look at students’ performance by key characteristics, including: family wealth, home and school environments, gender, school sector, and emirate. It discusses how low-income Emiratis, particularly boys, could be better served by the existing school system and suggests policies that would address their distinct needs. Read More
This policy paper discusses the feasibility of a future where the UAE invests in biofuels sourced from its mangroves. It presents the negative economic and environmental impacts of conventional methods of fuel production, reviews advances in biofuel technology, and analyzes the many microorganisms in the naturally occurring mangroves of Ras Al Khaimah. In medical workforce governance in the UAE, issues of professional recruitment, retention, and integration require attention as the majority of doctors and other healthcare professionals are internationally trained. This policy paper highlights results from a study on health professional regulation in the UAE, reviewing recent advances and providing recommendations for their continued improvement. Read More

The Al Qasimi Foundation’s College Preparation Program prepares secondary students in Ras Al Khaimah for competitive university study overseas or in the UAE. Grade 9-12 students attend after-school classes, workshops, and field trips, as well as optional overseas summer programs, to develop their academic skills and English language proficiency.  Read More
The Ras Al Khaimah Teachers Network (RAKTN) is a networking site that allows teachers and educators to come together to share resources, ideas, and best practices. RAKTN hosts discussion forums, blogs, and free downloadable resources. It is also the virtual platform for the Al Qasimi Foundation’s teacher professional development workshops. Read More

During the 2018 UAE-Vietnam Teacher Exchange Program, UAE teachers conducted the first stages of action research projects comparing the UAE and Vietnamese education systems. They looked at classroom, administration, and ministry level policies and practices that could be applied in their own schools. Read More

The Al Qasimi Foundation’s School Grants provide up to 10,000 AED in funding for individual schools to undertake special projects or pilot new initiatives that improve school environment, enhance student learning, and foster an overall positive student experience. Proposals submitted before October 25th are given priority. Read More

Al Qasimi Foundation's Natasha Ridge discusses the need to lower private school fees, which are disadvantaging lower-income expatriates.
