President's Message

Dear LPGA Amateur Golf Association DC Members,

Halloween is around the corner and our 2018 LPGA Amateurs DC chapter events and leagues have come to an end.  It has been a great year and I want to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who stepped up as League Captains, Event Chairs and volunteers who helped with the numerous activities that make our chapter such a great place for golf, friends and networking.

With all of that wrapping up, it doesn't mean our golf related activities should stop. You can join us at TopGolf Alexandria for an event each month from November through March to "Practice Your Precision".  Or you can join Needwood league for their pizza/crab feast nights and continue with friendships and networking in the off season (see below for more details).

Now we are off to planning the 2019 season and I am happy to announce the Board of Directors for 2019:

President - Snjezana Arthur
Communications Director - Julie Corn
Finance and Records Director - Darla Jackson
Golf Events Director - BJ Barger
Marketing Director - Lesli Mangeri
Membership Director - Kelly Lawhead
Rules and Handicap Director - Mary Ann Graham

We also need and welcome any help and input from our members.  If you want to become more involved in chapter activities, or have suggestions or ideas, don't hesitate to contact me at president.lpgaamateursdc@gmail.com

Happy Halloween!!!

Sincerely,

Snjezana Arthur
President

Calling All Chapter Volunteers!

If you volunteered in 2018, your chapter board wants to be sure to thank you for your efforts!

Our first annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch is scheduled for January 12, 2019 and Evites have been sent out.  However, we want to ensure that the invitation wasn't caught in your spam filter.

If you haven't received the invite, and helped out this year at an event, league or other activity, please RSVP today so that you can be recognized for your assistance.

Questions can be addressed to Nanci Schimizzi at schimizn2013@gmail.com.

2018 - 2019 ALEXANDRIA Topgolf
 Practice Your Precision

Now that the regular league season has ended, don't let those golf skills and new friendships get rusty. Topgolf is like pin ball for golf. "Pin Ball"-like targets are located at specified distances and you get "points" based on accuracy at placing your balls into these target areas (hence the precision part). There are also several types of "games" that make it even more challenging. This is a great way to maintain your skills throughout the winter months and also have some winter golf fun. Bays are covered and heated with staff bringing you food and beverages. You're not required to be an LPGA Amateur member to join in so bring along friends for a fun night.

Times : 6:15pm - 8:30pm. I'm usually there by 5pm if you want to come early.

Dates : 14 Nov 2018   12 Dec 2018   16 Jan 2019   13 Feb 2010   13 Mar 2019

Cost: approx $14 for 2 games (+$5 for the card if you don't have one already) OR get a "Lifetime" card for $40 (comes with $50 of credit for games on it + free club rentals if needed). Make sure to ask for Senior or Military discounts when you buy your card.

Having Fun with the Ladies of Needwood

The Ladies of Needwood started a tradition about 5 years ago when our annual pizza party evolved into an annual crab feast! We still do a pizza party but the crab feast is messy, fun and very Maryland! People bring sides, desserts and of course mallets, paper towels and their crab-picking skills. Our group is very social with weekly dinners each week after we play and we do fall and winter events to keep up with each other. Come join us!
