Attending the Transportation YOU event and meeting Dr. Christine Darden was a memorable occasion that I'll truly cherish for years to come. Dr. Darden, who had a forty year career at NASA in aerodynamics and the first African American woman to be promoted into Senior Executive Service at NASA's Langley Research Center, was certainly a trailblazer and is a reminder of the work ethic and dedication required to shatter glass ceilings in our lifetime and beyond.
The nomination period for our annual WTS awards will open soon. I encourage you to submit individuals, women and men, and trailblazers to be recognized at our annual awards banquet next spring. This wills your opportunity to identify and nominate our local trailblazers in preparation for our annual awards event.
And last, but certainly not least, I want to thank all those who attended this year's golf tournament at Cowboys Golf Club, and a very special thank you to our sponsors, committee, and others who contributed to the success of the event. This event allows us to provide scholarships to high school and college students interested in STEM careers and to support the professional development needs of our members.
Until next time,
President, WTS Greater D/FW Chapter
ANNUAL WTS GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 16th Annual Golf Tournament was held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine. 30 teams enjoyed a day of golfing on a beautiful day. The day started with lunch and ended with an awards reception in the clubhouse. Our members donated amazing raffle prizes to benefit our scholarship funds. Thank you to our sponsors, the committee, and the volunteers who made the event a huge success. We look forward to next year!

FALL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENT
Our Fall Professional Development Event involved an intimate session with Kimberly Davis as she focused on Brave Leadership and the Six Key Shifts for Tapping into Your Most Confident, Authentic, and Powerful Self (based on her book). Kimberly discussed how one's focus of attention defines your bravery and how we can shift our focus to show up and connect more powerfully. We uncovered what it truly means to be authentic from a leadership/influence perspective and how to make that actionable. Those who attended enjoyed an enthusiastic, passionate, and interactive program and walked away with their very own super objective and tools to put their purpose into action, ready to unleash their Brave Leadership!
