The Crawford Park District ; is pleased to announce the recent construction of A Sandstone Rockscape at Lowe-Volk Park. The rockscape was designed and built by a group of volunteers commonly called, The Cabin Guys. Their name was assigned because the men built the Dapper Cabin at Colonel Crawford Schools.  The historic sandstone was donated by Chuck Kimerline of Bucyrus Road Materials and Nancy Everly of The Leesville Trading Post. Since sandstone was previously quarried at Lowe-Volk Park, it was the perfect building material for the rockscape.

Chamber Welcomes New Ambassador
Hello, Chamber Members! My name is Nadia Oehler, and I am excited to be joining the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce as a Chamber Ambassador. Born and raised in Galion, Ohio, I graduated from Galion High School in 2013 and Bowling Green State University in 2018. After studying communication and sociology, I moved back to the Galion area to work at the Galion Public Library as the Adult Programming and Publicity Coordinator for a year. I was also grateful to share some time as an intern at the Galion City Health Department this past summer. As of June, I’ve joined the staff of United Way of Crawford County as the county manager where I handle resource development and community impact efforts. Working in the non-profit sector and enacting large-scale positive change in our local community has always been a goal of mine. I’m excited to continue my community involvement through this new role with the Chamber.
COVERT MANUFACTURING TO EXPAND, PROVIDED CRA TAX INCENTIVE
Galion City Council authorized to provide tax incentives for Covert Manufacturing’s $7.9 million expansion project. The company intends to invest $2.3 million for the construction of a 51,480-square-foot building within the existing campus. It will also purchase $5.6 million in new equipment.

Covert requested a 50% tax abatement for 10 years through the Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) program. The abatement is placed on the increase of the assessed property value resulting from this project.

The agreement is conditional to Covert creating 35 additional jobs, equivalent to an estimated $998,400 in annual payroll. The City also agreed to relocate a water line currently running through the project area, saving the company approximately $75,000.
