Happy Fall

It is great to feel the autumn chill and to see the leaves beginning their burst of color.

´╗┐After one month at Stony Brook, I can honestly say that we are fully into our learning routines and we are building a community of learners who think deeply, care immensely, and work well together. In fact, we are kicking off our social-emotional learning with the motto: Care for Others, Care for Yourself, and Care for your Space. This will build into activities designed around Stony Brook Elementary School CARES and is a precursor to the acronym of C.A.R.E.S. used at the Eddy School! Over time, students will brainstorm words that show how we care for others, care for ourselves, and care for our space with words such as: C - Compassionate, A - Assertive, or E - Empathetic that are aligned with our Second Step Curriculum.

We hope that you also feel the sense of caring and togetherness from the activities taking place at school to the conversations with your child or with members of our staff.

Please let us know when you have a question or concern as we want Stony Brook to be the best possible experience for your child and only by working together can we accomplish our goals for academic and social-emotional learning. Take CARE!
