Dear NCHS Family,

September ended on a busy note as we celebrated our wonderful school with Spirit Week and Homecoming. Activities from the week included games in all of our sports, a pep rally, bonfire and the Homecoming Dance. The Dance was given new life this year with the “Footloose” theme, which was so popular we sold the highest number of tickets since I have been the principal of NCHS! Thank you to the parents who helped create this successful event. We have wonderful traditions at our school and NCHS students love Spirit Week. While I love the enthusiasm they display, I am most proud of how they treat each other during the week. They show tremendous passion, and truly celebrate the school and community with pride.

Now that we are a month into the school year, goal setting is a way that your children can work hard to reach their fullest potential and gain a greater sense of control over their lives. Many of you set goals with your children and continue to have conversations throughout the year around their goals. This is a perfect time of year to see if your students are on the right track to achieve their personal and educational goals.

We have a tremendous partnership with our PFA and I hope to see you at the many events that take place throughout the year. Thank you for helping make New Canaan High School a special school within a special community.

All the best,

Bill Egan
Principal

We are working hard to interfacing Pixellot and NCHS-TV to bring you the October 6th game against Greenwich and the Turkey Bowl!

We celebrated a great homecoming football win vs. Westhill (38-14)! Thank you to Pep Rally MC'S Saddie Selert, Tom Saitta and Max Findlay... and Congratulation to the New Canaan HS community for make Homecoming week such a huge success!!!! At our first home football game vs. Danbury (42-6), we honored players from the Classes of ’69, ’70, and 71, who had a 33-game winning streak that spanned those three years. We also had a moment of silence for Jason Cooper, who graduated from New Canaan High School in 1984 and attended Duke University, where he played both football and lacrosse for the university. A few years before his passing, he returned to New Canaan to work with his mentor and friend Lou Marinelli. He found his passion working with NCHS athletes. The NCHS Scholarship Foundation founded The Jason Cooper Scholarship, which will be given to a NCHS student, preferably an athlete, who embodies Jason’s qualities of humility, passion and a commitment to friendship.

Thanks for all Your Hard Work!
The PFA's sincerest gratitude goes to:
Kelly De Francesco for chairing the NCHS Open House. Kelly and her team, Kristin Leopold and Melanie Rokocxy ran a wonderful event for our high school school community. We especially appreciate their organization and coordinating all the wonderful food items. Additionally, we would like to thank all of the wonderful parents who donated food and beverages. The chairs could not have run such a successful event without the tremendous support of so many parents.

We would like to thank alumni parents Whitney Williams and Melissa Jones for returning to help with PFA memberships and Directory distribution.
