Dear Friends and Supporters of Saint John's:

Our children are busy deciding what to be for Halloween; for many, this will be their first Halloween spent in a safe environment where they can focus solely on being a kid and dressing up! If you're cleaning out your Halloween closet about now, we'd love any costumes your kids may have outgrown! Contact us at 916-453-1482 if you'd like to donate, and thank you in advance for any and all donations in support of our kids here at Saint John's.

We've had another busy month, with a wonderful Guest Chef Dinner held at Plates Café on October 3, featuring cuisine prepared by our very own Plates Café, Plates Midtown and Jackson campus chefs. Our staff is now busy getting ready for our annual  Party for Change gala, to be held November 2 at the Mather Jet Center! This is our largest annual fundraiser and a wonderful opportunity for more than 600 community supporters to gather in celebration of the Real Change happening every day in the lives of the women and children we serve.

As always, thank you to all of you who so generously donate your time and resources to further our mission, each and every day!

Sponsorships are still available in support of our biggest annual fundraiser on November 2,  Party for Change , now considered one of Sacramento's premier events of the season! You'll enjoy a gourmet meal-with-a-meaning, delicious varietals, exhilarating entertainment, live music and dancing, all in support of one of our region's most vulnerable communities, formerly homeless families.

Pretty on the Inside
Daisy LaForm has been primping and pampering our ladies for more than 20 years with her bi-annual "Pretty on the Inside" event, a day of decadence designed to make our clients feel beautiful, powerful and confident, inside and out! On October 5, Daisy and her crew of 50+ volunteers provided our ladies with haircuts & styling, pedicures/manicures, waxing, massages, essential oils/hand washing, makeup, new purses, clothing and shoes for new career outfits, followed by a delicious luncheon, along with entertainment and prayer. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for a future "Pretty on the Inside" event, please contact Daisy LaForm at 916-712-5042,  [email protected] .
Volunteer Spotlight: Teens Model Saint John's Values
Empowering women is clearly a most important goal for Saint John's Program for Real Change. It's interesting, then, that a group of teenage girls has already embodied that goal and is helping the women at Saint John's by forming their own volunteer circle of help. From preparing/serving a meal to helping in the office, in childcare, in our donation center or if you have a special skill, there are lots of ways to  volunteer

Building for the Future Project
Helping Others Soar!
In 2017 we purchased and renovated an 11,000-square-foot building adjacent to our campus, allowing us to increase our capacity to serve from 180 to 270 women and children per day. We have secured funding commitments for $3 million of this $4 million Building for the Future Project, with a goal of raising the remaining $1 million by December 31, 2019.

By giving generously today, you will help secure the future of programs that hold the promise of an end to homelessness for so many. Naming a bedroom, office, bench or a commemorative brick to line our walking path offers a great tribute to an individual, family or corporation - connecting your name with the meaningful work that happens every day at Saint John's Program for Real Change.

Please visit  www.saintjohnsprogram.org/buildingforthefuture  to peruse the many giving opportunities. For more specifics on each opportunity, please call Sasha Wirth or Bethany Knudsen at 916-453-1482.
