Counselor Conference Success!
The conference kicked off with a warm and passionate welcome from the new President and Superintendent of San Joaquin Delta College, Dr. Omid Pourzanjani. Dr. Pourzanjani shared his story of a first generation college student and career path.

The conference had two keynote speakers in the lineup. First up was Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, Founder & President Educational Achievement Services, Inc. Consuelo took all of us on a journey from her childhood days in a poor barrio in Laredo, Texas to becoming the highest-ranking Hispanic woman in the Combat Support Field of the U.S. Army, Lieutenant Colonel and then on to being an entrepreneur. Her mission is to prepare tomorrow’s leaders today. She had the entire audience cheering, laughing and crying on her road to FIND IT BE IT. Consuelo highlighted along the way how the counselors may relate her story to their work with students.

K-14 Regional Engagement Meetings &
K-12 Strong Workforce Program Updates
On October 1-3, 2019, the CRC held three K14 Regional Engagement Meetings in Bakersfield, Lemoore and Stockton. Almost 200 stakeholders came together representing community colleges, K12 LEAs, CA Dept. of Rehabilitation, CA Dept. of Industrial Relations, local government, workforce development, and CRC Key Talent. Led by a team from West Ed, the meeting attendees worked on developing partnerships involving human-centered design using data and pathway tools to help direct the planning of intersegmental pathways between K12 and community college.
