Message from the President
Hi Ladies,

The holidays are upon us and time will fly by now that October is here! Please, remember we changed the monthly meeting venue to Benedict's Plantation in Mandeville. Please gather in the ballroom for our next meeting Thursday, October 17, 2019*. During this meeting, members will vote on Community Partners and elect Board Members for the 2020 calendar year . Only members of WIP can vote at the meeting however, guests are invited to attend.

We are also planning an adventure to tour to The St Joseph Abbey and Seminary College on October 19, 2019* for $5. Details about the tour are available in the Adventures Section of this newsletter and on our Facebook Events page on the Web at https://www.facebook.com/events/443413559715575/ . You can mail your payment to us or provide your payment at the October meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Fatzer at  chrisandlaurafatzer@charter.net .

Mark your calendar for our holiday gathering in to be held at Benedict's Plantation on December 12, 2019* from 4 pm to 7 pm. This is open to members and non members. I am looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Speaker Spotlight!
Diane Brehm is a wife of 42 years, mother of four daughters and has worked for 40 years in the Financial field. In her career and home life Diane fosters an attitude of Positivity and Encouragement . Deeply invested in the community, she serves on the boards of Kiwanis of Greater Covington and Louisiana Professional Women’s Association. Diane also participates in a weekly bible study, and for the past seven years participated in the Power of Positive Summit. However, life wasn’t always sunshine and roses. Diane will share some lessons learned and how we all have the power to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.

October 17, 2019 - Annual Meeting @ Benedict's Plantation (10:00 AM-Noon)
  • All WIP members and their guests are invited to attend!
  • Speaker - Diane Brehm -Topic, "How to Keep Your Sanity in Today's World "
  • Member Community Partners Voting and Board Elections will be held following the presentation.
  • We will hear a short presentation from all applicants and vote on our 2020 Community Partners.
  • The Directors Nominating Committee will present their proposals. Nominations may be added.
  • Elections will follow. Membership must be in good standing for voting privileges. (This means that annual dues are paid.)
  • The Lunch Bunch will meet at K-Gee's Restaurant in Mandeville following the meeting.

Attend a private tour behind the scenes of the beautiful Abbey Church, Monk's Refectory, and Seminary College located just north of Covington in St. Benedict, Louisiana. The group will to go to lunch at the conclusion of the tour.

General Meetings begin at 10:00 am for connecting with friends and making new ones!
General Presentations begin at 10:30
The business portion starts at 11:30 following our speaker.
After each meeting we head to a local restaurant for
"Lunch Bunch" food and conversation.

Join Hope House representatives at the Children's Advocacy Center - Hope House for FREE Stewards of Children training and certification. Learn how to effectively recognize, react, and prevent child abuse within our community. Tour the facilities and learn about our important role within the St. Tammany and Washington parishes.

This two-hour course is perfect for organizations, professionals or individuals who work with kids. Parents too!

They'll have pizza and refreshments for everyone in the class.

SAVE THE DATE! You Night St. Tammany is Thursday, October 24th at the Castine Center in Mandeville. 24 Cancer Survivors will walk the runway in front of friends, family members, and health care providers, including our own Heidi Rhea . This celebration of life is open to the public and is one of St. Tammany's favorite events of the year!

Baseball games will be held on Saturday mornings.The adult league will play on Wednesday night. We are scheduling 10 weeks of games, with the knowledge that we all know it will rain and a few will get cancelled.
