"SUNNY POINT" ON STUART ISLAND
A SUNNY DISPOSITION
"Preserving this beautiful place gives me such delight and pleasure," said Molly Ciliberti. "As a nurse, I saved many lives, but [donating this conservation easement] is the best thing I’ve ever done."

Our staff has undergone some changes recently, with two two new arrivals to fill vacancies. We're pleased and proud to welcome Sierra O'Connell as our new Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator, and Jill Staton as our Development Associate (aka database guru).
SJPT MEMBERS & STAFF ON BLAKELY ISLAND
YOU ARE THE
BEST PART OF US
The San Juan Preservation Trust is only as effective as our members are loyal. You, your volunteerism, and your annual gift, are what keeps us acquiring new island acres, caring for special island places, and connecting you to the places you love. The best part of the San Juan Preservation Trust is YOU and your fellow members. ...
EASTERN HEMLOCK MORTALITY | USFS
HELP FOR HEMLOCKS?
For more than 30 years, a tiny sap-sucking insect has been killing untold millions of hemlock trees in the eastern U.S. The invasive insect, called the Hemlock Woody Adelgid (HWA), could drive eastern hemlocks to extinction—but natural predators found on western hemlocks in our islands could help yield a biological control.
BEAVERTON NAMESAKE | ERIN KOHLENBERG
LEAVE IT TO BEAVERTON
“Beaverton” is the name of a scenic valley, a busy road, and the largest freshwater marsh in San Juan County. Early descriptions of San Juan Island do not record how and when the name originated. It’s clear, though, that beavers had built at least one dam in the lower part of the valley, creating an expansive marsh and giving the area its name.
PARTNERS IN PERPETUITY
Name: Joe Cohen

Gann Society Member since: 2012

Favorite Island Place: Turtlehead: What a great addition to SJPT! I love the hike from Waldron Lookout out to the "head." One of the most beautiful and quiet hikes on the island, rewarded with a spectacular view!

Quote: The Preservation Trust has done a great job of preserving lands to date. The biggest challenge for posterity will be to insure we can care for and maintain these lands in pristine condition, so that generations to come can enjoy them as we have. A legacy gift to the stewardship endowment will facilitate that effort.
The Gann Society is a group of individuals who have notified us that they have provided for the San Juan Preservation Trust in their estate plans.

Protect these islands for generations to come with a bequest to SJPT.
