Many Way to Join Us for Worship
Sunday Services at Christ Church
Sunday services are offered in the church at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Masks must be worn by all in attendance and appropriate social distancing must be maintained. No registration is required.

Still don't feel comfortable attending in person? Check us out online! The 10:00 a.m. service is broadcast live on our You Tube channel! You can watch it in real time or at your convenience. Find it here.

Forgot about your pledge? We haven't! Contact-less collection plates are available at the rear of the church. You can also maintain your pledge online.
A Message from Our Treasurer
Dear Fellow Parishioners,

I am pleased to provide this interim update on the financial well-being of our parish. With the surprises presented to us during 2020, I am glad to report that our finances have fared nicely thus far into the year.

Our year-to-date financial statements of July 31, 2020, show pledged contributions remaining strong, thanks to your extraordinary generosity. Even though our total income is less than we projected before the pandemic, the Rector and Vestry have made hard decisions to cut spending which has placed us on a firm financial foundation. As a result, our reliance on savings to fund operations is at an all-time low.

The remarkable support each of you provide has made our Church a success. We are blessed that God placed us together and that we have formed a resilient parish enabling us to survive such challenging times. I see our congregation poised to be an even stronger parish in the future. Thank you all for your continued support as we continue on a path to normalcy.

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful Autumn season.

Happening this Month
Church Breakfast
 Sunday, October 4th, 8:45 - 9:15 a.m.
The Church Breakfast will be held on Sunday, October 4th, 8:45 - 9:15 a.m., weather permitting. Outdoor seating on the patio only; place an order and receive your food through the window. Masks required except while eating.
Blessing of the Animals
 Sunday, October 4th at 4:00 p.m.
Bring your creatures — be they four-legged, slithering, winged, underwater or even stuffed — to be blessed by the Rector on Sunday, October 4th, at 4:00 p.m.

A short service will be conducted on the Christ Church playground in honor of the life of St. Francis of Assisi.

Masks are required for all humans in attendance.
Christian Education
Sunday School
Christian Education for children, infancy through 6th grade, will take place on the Christ Church playground on Sundays, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Students must wear masks; all safety protocols will be in place. Got questions? Contact Children's Ministries Director Susie Mittelstadt at susan@njworks.com or call the church office at 973-383-2245.

Journey Youth Group
Students in grades 7 - 12 are invited to share stories of life and faith as part of the Journey Youth Group. Meetings will take place on Sundays, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the church basement. Contact Randy Parks at randolph.parks@atlantichealth.org with questions.

Adult Bible Study
The Rector, the Reverend Canon Robert Griner, will lead Bible Study on the patio on Sundays, 9:00 - 9:40 a.m.

Please note that our gatherings for Christian Education will follow the New Jersey State guidelines governing schools.
Normally, Christ Church parishioners gather snacks, religious items, notepads, tissues and other things to be shipped to our collegiate students at this time. However, given current public health guidelines, coupled with the fact that many college students are learning remotely from home, parish leaders are suggesting that we gather gift cards or monetary donations towards the purchase of gift cards for our students instead. Contributions are requested by October 18th; donations can be left at the church office or provided to Randy Parks.

Those who have a student enrolled in college, are asked to provide their name and contact information to Randy Parks at 862-266-0513 or randolph.parks@atlantichealth.org by October 18th.

Altar Guild
Although we are mainly using commercial sources for the altar flower arrangements now, we will be continuing the practice initiated during the church closure of accepting donations of cut flowers from parishioners. A floral display group is in the works. Membership is open to anyone and no experience is necessary; an experienced guide will be available to help those who would like to participate.

Parishioners are still encouraged to contribute toward the purchase of the flowers on the altar in order to commemorate a special occasion or loved one; Sanctuary Lights or Candles, $20; Altar Flowers, $50.

Contact Alex Zander at ahzander@yahoo.com or contact the church office to offer flowers, join the floral display group or make a monetary donation.

A Note from Reverend Sharon
Dear friends at Christ Church,

Thank you for your warm welcome and support during my time as priest associate. Although, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our ministry together was shorter than we had hoped, I treasure the time I served in Newton, the many wonderful people I met, and the lessons I learned. You remain in my heart and my prayers.

Wishing you all blessings,
Sharon Hausman+
