West Louisville Now

$10,000 Matching Gift Announced

We are excited to announce that a member of the diocese has generously offered to match up to $10,000 in new donations to the West Louisville Now appeal between now and the end of November. 

This gift and challenge are a symbol of this faithful donor's study to more fully understand Kentucky's history of slavery and the role of the donor's family in that history. The gift is a recognition that, in the donor's words, "many families in our diocese, like my own, have Kentucky ancestors who owned slaves in the mid-19th century and benefitted from that injustice." 

The West Louisville Now fund provides financial support for essential repairs to the buildings of two congregations in predominantly black neighborhoods of West Louisville. 60% of the $200,000 goal has been raised so far. 

Our donor invites you to prayerfully consider your own gift: "Please join me with a contribution in support of the plan for improving the facilities of St. George's and Our Merciful Saviour as they continue the essential work of serving their neighborhoods today and into the future."

Digital Diocesan Convention Live Stream 

This year’s 193rd Diocesan Convention will be held in a digital format and will be available to be viewed via Facebook Live on Saturday, November 14th. This format will enable anyone in the diocese to view the proceedings of the digital Convention from the comfort of our homes. Plan on checking the Diocese of Kentucky’s Facebook the morning of Nov. 14th starting at 9amET/8amCT to observe your church at work on behalf of our diocesan community and the western half of our Commonwealth.

AROUND THE DIOCESE
Seeking Submissions for Christmas Video

Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green is putting together a plug-and-play video for use on Christmas 1, December 27th. This service of Christmas Lessons and Carols will follow the form from the Book of Occasional Services and will include 9 lessons and 11 carols. It will be provided for use by every congregation in the Diocese of Kentucky to stream as their service on Christmas 1 to allow for congregational leaders to take some much needed time off. To make this possible, we need your help. If your congregation is willing to help by providing a video of a lector reading a lesson or your music ministry leading a hymn, please let Steve Pankey know by emailing him here. Videos are due by November 15th, so you have plenty of time to participate.

Matt and Hannah Bradley announce the birth of their son, Samuel Andrew Bradley, born on Wednesday, Oct 7, at 6 lbs 14 oz and 20.5". We join in their rejoicing and pray for God's "lively sense of presence" to be with them as they welcome their newborn.
