October Education Explore
Each month's Education Explore Newsletter features updates from Prince William Public Libraries, as well as information on an amazing digital resource available through our Digital Library, free to all library card holders.
Virtual Children's Desk
Do your students need help with library databases? Have a question about library cards? Want to check out an e-book? Register to Ask a Librarian!
Parents, teachers, and students can get help with questions by scheduling a virtual 20 minute appointment with a librarian to learn how to use our library resources and get the personalized help you need to succeed in school.
Registration is required. Appointments will take place at 3:00 p.m., 3:20 p.m., and 3:40 p.m. every Monday. Appointments will take place on WebEx, an online meeting room similar to Zoom. You will receive your link to the appointment 24 hours before the appointment.
On Scholastic Go!, several different Scholastic online resources are combined into one amazing reference site. You'll find encyclopedia articles, educational videos, science fair projects, and more. Plus, it's linked with Google Classroom! You can access lesson plans, search by curriculum standards, and find tons of downloadables and printables.
These helpful resources are free with your library card. To check out these resources, visit pwcgov.org/library, click on "Digital Library," then select Scholastic Go! using your 14-digit library card barcode to log in. Please note that these resources are only available with the physical library card, not our digital library card.

We want to be a resource for you, not just during this time when you're faced with challenges presented by COVID-19, but also when we all progress back into our "new normal." Please don't hesitate to contact us at OPO@pwcgov.org to discuss additional resources from Prince William Public Libraries.
Featured Programs for October

You can also show your students how to get a library card with the help of a parent/guardian by telling them to:
- Visit pwcgov.org/library to start the application.
- Follow the prompts for a temporary digital library card.
- To upgrade to a physical library card, call any PWPL branch.
*Remember: Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian complete the online registration or sign the paper registration.
