Academic Advising:
Reminders to Share with your students.

Families,

It is important for students to see their advisor at least once a semester, especially to verify the course options that would be best for them to register to take in the upcoming semester(s).

Every First year students will have a Freshman Advising Hold on their account until they have their required advising PHONE or ZOOM meeting with an Academic Advisor!

If a student is interested in changing their major, it is very important to meet with an advisor as soon as possible.

Please encourage your student to meet with their Academic Advisor early, since it is in their best interest not to wait until Advance Registration for Spring 2021 begins (in late October).

Please review the following website for more registration information: http://www.fau.edu/registrar/registration/.

Families, your students value your opinions. When engaging your students, we recommend asking open ended questions about classes during this month, their favorite classes, and what types of course assignments they’ve enjoyed the most. Inquiry type questions allows from to offer more insight and share with you what is happening for them at FAU

As always, thank you for what you do!

During the month of October, please help us educate our students on modeling healthy relationships and intervening when they spot abusive relationships by encouraging them to participate in the events listed in the flyer above!

If you suspect your student may be in an unhealthy relationship, and you are unsure how to support them, the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers tips on how to help a loved one.

FAU offers comprehensive support to survivors of sexual and relationship violence through the Office of Victim Services (561-297-0500).
